Inktober #26: Moonlit Curve by Sparkyopteryx

Inktober #26: Moonlit Curve

Sparkyopteryx

Today's Inktober piece is a bit of surprise giftart for the wonderful swandog! I'm a little nervous about posting this, since I get anxious about whether the recipient even welcomes free art or not and being such an introvert the gesture can be difficult for me, but that can't be helped. She was one of the first artists I found and became a fan of when I first joined here and the interactions I've had with her have always been so pleasant. She's such a nice person and all of her characters are so pretty I could just cry, haha. So, I hope you like it!

Unicorns and Art Noveau are a match made in heaven, so this combination was only natural. Didn't take as long as you might think, but I was extra careful to make sure I got the lines and details just right. Done on white marker paper with Staedtler pigment liners. Art is mine but the character Lunacorn most definitely belongs to Swandog.

Will comment here as well...I'm still in complete and utter awe of the beauty and deeply humbled by your kindness...This is one of the most lovely and elegant depictions of Luna that anyone has ever done. <33333 (May I please have this for my "Collection" here?) :)

Oh goodness, I forgot to do that! Done and done. I also definitely recommend downloading the image from either here or dA since FA compressed the quality just a little. I really wanted to make sure I got everything about her just right since every detail about her is so perfectly unicorn (also it was fun combing through all the miscellaneous image references you provided for her!). As I said on FA, I think I might be in love with drawing deer-things now.

Thank you again, and she is perfect in every way! :D I definitely look forward to seeing more deer from you!! You are amazing at everything you do!!! <333 snugs

This is in fact quite lovely. You know, it'd make an amazing patch as well.

This is beautiful! But I think it needs a Watermark, just to be safe

Very awesome work here. I'm in awe of your crisp, yet flowing lines.
I think I'll start following you now, if only to get inspiration to try and do better in my own inking attempts.
I also think this would look awesome as a tattoo. >.>

Thank you very much! My linework is slowly getting better, bit by bit. It helps immensely to do it on a proper surface that takes pen well and isn't too rough or "toothy." She herself said she would get it as a tattoo if she was so inclined, but she's doing one just as good and getting it on a shirt instead, haha.

Part of my 'problem' with my linework is that I'm starting learning how to do it at the ripe age of 44...
harder to keep hands steady with arthritis.
