Dealing with major medical bills; PWYW commissions reopened. by Sparkyopteryx

The Situation:

I'll make this as brief and concise as possible: Last week I went to the doctor's and was diagnosed with having a lipoma on my leg, which is in a nutshell is a mass (read: tumor) that is comprised of fatty tissue. It's nothing too serious (as we know of right now) and lipomas are one of the most common and one of the most stable and benign forms as far as tumors go.

That being said, where it is situated is right next to a nerve and putting me in a constant state of discomfort and often outright pain, and the only treatment for these things is that it must be taken out, which means surgery eventually. I'm on a regimen of Ibuprofen to continue to draw and function normally at least, but unfortunately without attention it won't simply go away. We are paying all of my radiology and doctor's visit bills out of pocket since we have no insurance. I've already gotten an ultrasound; I hope to scientific processes I won't need an MRI as well. I suspect Chrismas will be very lean for us this year...

The Commissions:

My ToS

I refuse to ask for free money; I'd much rather do art for you! Hence I'm reopening my Pay-What-You-Want commissions except that this time, it can be of any type of media, not just ballpoint. All money I make from these will go towards my doc bills. If you want to donate instead I'm still going to insist on making you art so you may as well simply commission me instead. :P Simply message me here or email me: greedyabsinthe@hotmail.com. Here's how we'll do it:

Step 1: Name your price. Simple as that. Give me your budget so we can begin to iron out the particulars. I can give additional examples that fit your target budget if you desire.

Step 2: Name your preferred media: Since media varies widely as far as how quick (or how slowly) I detail everything and get things done, it'll affect the finished product. If you can't choose one you can always list a couple instead and I choose for you. I'll discuss everything with you and give you a rough idea of what you can expect as the finished piece from what your price is and what your desired media will be.

The most common and therefor the media I'm most comfortable with are: Graphite/pencil, marker, ink liners, ballpoint and colored pencils. I can easily do mixed media things with two or more of those as well, such as graphite with colored pencils.

Step 3: Tell me what you want and send me references! I need to know what I'll be making for you! Your parameters can be as loose or as specific as you want; you can even simply give me keywords to work artistic liberty into. I do all sorts of subjects: I especially excel at fantasy/mythological creatures, RPG characters from tabletops, anthro stuff/animal-related things and anything nature, faerie, occult, Celtic or Art Noveau-inspired but I've done well outside of my comfort zone also.

Step 4: Send me payment so I can get to work! My PayPal is still greedyabsinthe@hotmail.com. Once I'm working on your piece, depending on complexity and what you want I will be sending you various correspondences, usually in the form of updates and thumbnail previews or a preview sketch for your approval. Pace and turnaround will also vary; I will keep you updated with the progress of your piece. If you commission me well within November I can most certainly guarantee it finished (and shipped if you desire) by Christmas, most likely before.

A Very Small Handful of Examples of my Work:

A single-character limited palette in ballpoint
Simple n' clean lineart in ink
Ink illustration

Colored pencil and graphite illustration

"Sketchy" pencil illustration

Monochrome marker and pen character portrait

Ballpoint half-body portraits
Expression sheets/ sketch pages
Full ballpoint illustration
Simple turnaround reference

Fancy concept sheets/reference

Thank you all you beautiful people for your time and consideration; I don't expect things like signal boosts half the time but if you know anyone that is on the hunt for quality traditional work at really flexible prices, please direct them to me!

Where's some Sci-Fi Mumbo Jumbo when you need it?

Unfortunately the magnet tube is the sci-fi mumbo jumbo...

          • Link

            No way.

Sci-Fi Mumbo Jumbo would fly through the air and be like "wee-uew wee-uew" sounds.
