:Commissions: Half-figure ballpoint set

Sparkyopteryx

A "Name-your-price" commission set for Daxtered! One of which was Hallowe'en themed. These guys were tons of fun to do, especially his character on the left. Good opportunity to hone my skills with pose, lighting and perspective too. The file is intentionally smaller than normal so the commissioner can have the high-resolution version.

Both done with ballpoint on smooth bristol paper; 9''x12''. Art is mine and rights are jointly owned by myself and the client; characters belong to Daxtered.

Want a commission like these? I'm still open for them! They're PWYW ballpoint commissions; more info found here!

These easily go among the top of the most amazing ballpoint drawings I've ever seen @__@ you handle crosshatching extremely well, and the colouring looks incredible too!

Why thank you! I still have quite a bit left to learn regarding this media but I've definitely come far since I started working with them in earnest two years ago. They're an absolute joy for me to render with and oftentimes I find I have to moderate my time more carefully since I tend to get too into them and overdo it!

Wowee! I've always been envious of your pen work. Looking fantastic!

Really in love with the way the guy on the left's face, damn cool!

the way you did the guy on the left's face.* Whoops!

Thanks man! I seem to be getting more and more into this medium and with Inktober starting tomorrow, you're probably going to see a lot more pen art from me in this coming month, haha. It also makes me want to do more anatomy studies with ballpoint since I found it makes rendering form really fun.

Haven't heard from you in a while; hope your Autumn so far has been good!

Anatomy studies, tell me about it! My life has been nothing but anatomy studies lately!

I look forward to seeing more of this magical pen made goodness, it's so great!

And my Autumn has been pretty alright, a bit warm for my tastes but not bad!
Here's to hoping yours is equally as grand! c:

holy crap these are amazing! that mood and lighting on the left one especially, wow.

I know, right? The one on the left is my favorite for that same reason. I love spooky and Hallowe'en-themed subjects because then it gives me an excuse to do things with that yellow-orange "torchlight" effect.

    Wow.

Going to agree with everyone else that the one on the left is the best, but they're both pretty great. There's a lot of small details on the one on the right that one can find, I like stuff like that.

I'll just add to what everyone else is saying. Amazing. The color on pumpkin head in particular is so vibrant.

I love that pumpkin guy on the left!
