Of course….. by keirajo

Well, woke up this morning coughing a lot and used one of my at home COVID-19 tests—looks like I’m positive. I called my supervisor and have to call the City Nurse tomorrow to report it and cancel some upcoming doctors appointments I have this week.

I seem to be mostly asymptomatic right now—just a lot of coughing (which is making my throat hurt), plus an ongoing headache. So, I hope this is the most I suffer. I do everything possible to protect myself, but you can’t stop the idiots out there now that mask mandates have been dropped. :/ All mask mandates ended this week and then I get it, I think it shows how much masks helped out—I still wear mine going out everywhere, but losing one layer of protection (others wearing masks) increases your risks—even a small percentage increase in risk can make things happen. But I’ve been fully vaccinated with the booster as well—so, here’s hoping that I survive without the worst of everything. :)

With my positive diagnosis, it makes a ton of work for me, because of protocols from my job. Lots of hoops, I likely won’t return to work at all this week, even if I feel better and test negative in a couple days—at least I have a TON of sick time banked up. XD But this is certainly not the way I wanted to start my week…….!

Of course…..

    Get better yo!

Thanks! :) I’m hoping the symptoms stay mild—can’t decide whether the headache or coughing is the worst part! XD

Have access to a lot of Water, maybe order some Pedyalite off amazon to help with electrolytes so you don't dehydrate and should also help with headache. That's what we did for our brother. The symptoms tend to kick in after a few days real hard. Make a beautiful Bed nest because it's gonna make you damn tired and sleepy. My Brother just started out completely asymptomatic when positive (had to test because coworker had it), but three days later it was no smell, Cherries that tasted like flesh instead of fruit, gross mouth noises, and sleeping most the day.

Reminder: At home tests can have a false negative which is why the instructions are to take a second one 24 hrs after the first. If you are taking another test after a few days do keep that in mind.

Yeah……I’m pretty glad the boxes of tests the government sent had 4 kits. I called the City Nurse and she’ll do a “better” test on Thursday if I “feel better”.

I got my sister to get me some groceries. So I asked for a lot of Body Armor—it’s one of those sports drinks I really like, made with coconut water. Tons of vitamins and stuff, too. She’s gonna drop that off in front of my door when she gets off of work today. For now, I have a pot of tea with cinnamon stewing in my slow cooker, that way I can have hot tea all day without having to constantly boil water. And I keep filling my Brita pitcher with fresh water! XD

Thanks for the advice! It’ll help a lot. :)

oh no.. ÓʌÒ; get well soon! I hope you'll be okay <:o
if you need me I'm here! I understand self isolating might get a bit lonesome at times so always remember you've always got your friends by your side. I'm really sorry you got covid tho, I'm hoping you'll get better! I'm sure the vaccinations should help anyway <:3

    • Link

I hope so, too. Given I have some of the health conditions that might make me weaker to things like this—it’s definitely my hope that the vaccinations and boosters help. :)

      Thanks! :)

I’m doing fine! I went back to work last week and it seems to be back to “the new normal” times. :)

                      How are you doing? :)

that's really good that you're all better ^-^ my friend just had covid too so I was concerned for you both <:o but i'm glad yous are alright now <:3 luckily i haven't had covid yet but sadly i think we're all gonna get it at some point :c

                        • Link

I think it’s probably inevitable that everyone will get it once, as long as all mandates get taken down and we don’t really have full herd immunity achieved across the world yet.

Just try to stay safe and protect yourself and get the vaccines……it’ll help you from experiencing it really bad. :)

                          • Link

yea don't worry i still wear a mask in buildings and busses even though the restrictions have been lifted, and i've had my 3 vaccinations even though needles scare me. i just know it's all gonna be worth it in the end cos it'll make a big difference anyway ^w^

                            • Link

Yep! The more you protect yourself, the better off you’ll be! :)

get well soon having covid isnt fun xD had covid in january and ended up celebrating my birthday with covid and my symptoms was mild as well, the thing i disliked was the sore throat i had, it felt like it was burning every time i drank and ate something XD

    • Link

Yeah, I was just coughing so much that I think the coughing actually caused a sore throat. The headache has been really bad, because nothing gets rid of that…..from Ny-Quil to Advil, I still have a bad headache. :<

I didn’t get much fatigue or loss of taste or muscle aches. Not even a fever, really. So I’m sure I didn’t get bad because I take so many precautions. I’m vaccinated with the booster, plus I do always wear a mask outside of my own apartment. :)

I have two more days of quarantine by the City Nurse, so, tomorrow I’ll take another test and see what happens. Today (Wednesday), I still have the headache, but coughing is only occasionally……seems to be mostly if I’m laying down, so I’m going to sit up as much as possible today. :D

  • Link

I hope everything gets better for you. Haven't really checked up on the situation lately, but I have noticed less people wearing masks and less strict masks laws, except in medical building where I live.

    • Link

Thanks--today is supposed to be my last day of isolation and most of my coughing has tapered off. :)

I still have a bit of a headache though. I'm pretty sure that having the vaccine and booster is really the reason I never got worse off than a "bad cold" kind of symptoms. I'm currently awaiting a call from the City Nurse to consult with me about going back to work.

In the rush to get back to "normal", I think a lot more people are going to get sick over the next few months--especially with big social gathering situations coming up (graduations, summer vacations and 4th of July gatherings).

  • Link

Heeeeccckkk. That sucks. I hope the symptoms pass quickly and you're able to get back to your usual.

    • Link

I haven’t hardly coughed at all today, I just mostly still have a headache. I tried to get a hold of the City Nurse like I was supposed to today, but she never returned my call—so I hope she does tomorrow. Then I can find out about returning to work.

For sure, besides my general good immunity I have to colds/flu—I am sure that my being vaccinated and that I do wear masks helped me out a lot. For sure! :)

      • Link

Hopefully you hear back soon and I'm glad that it seems like the symptoms are going away a bit. Yeah, for sure your vaccination and everything helped. :3

        • Link

She had me call back on Sunday (today)—so, I’m finally cleared to go back to work tomorrow (Monday). There’s some paperwork and restrictions—like I “must” wear a mask for 7 days (like I wouldn’t anyways, but I’ll use one of my KN95 masks and anti-bac spray it every day! XD).

It definitely could’ve been worse—just sucked that it happened at all. For someone like me who masks up in public, it does make me wonder just how things will go over the next few months with big social events that happen in summer……picnics, conventions, graduations. I wonder if there will be another big upsurge because of people who don’t and won’t wear masks? hmmm
