Faraday by Sparkyopteryx

Faraday

Sparkyopteryx

I finally have this monster of a project done. It took me...quite a while. And it wasn't that I wasn't working on it (I have been for several hours each day even). It really did just take that long. First fully realized stippling piece I've ever done and even though it was exhausting, I think I'd like to do more art like this in the future.

Since the theme for the BLFC convention is "Dystopia" I wanted to make some art to reflect that. This is meant to be a companion/opposition piece to my upcoming "Pyramid Scheme" and is a tongue-in-cheek anti-establishment message using the most iconic of iconoclasts, the punk. I'll let you all draw your own conclusions and perceptions however.

This will be for sale at the BLFC art show so keep an eye out for it if you're going! 11''x14'' smooth bristol and Staedtler pigment liners.

The STIPPLING! I really enjoyed seeing the progress shots on this, I think they really help the viewer appreciate just how much time and detail went into this piece. Fantastic!

Seriously. I'm no stranger to taking a very long time on a piece but stippling really takes it to the next level; you have to be so slow and deliberate to make sure details and gradients come out evenly. Thank you!

As a stippler, I can say nice job! Some nice subtle transitions and a lot of area covered.

Thank you very much! I don't know how regularly I'll be doing pieces like this but I must say this was very enjoyable. Maybe I'll just do a smaller piece next time, heh.

Thank you kindly! Patience was definitely a deciding factor in this. And frequent breaks to rest the hand, haha.
