Air is an intangible and invisible element, its presence only reflected in how it interacts with the world at large. Therefore, air signifies the mind and the consciousness and the state of self-awareness. This energy can be chaotic and unpredictable though; a calm breeze can turn to a raging hurricane any minute. Traits associated with air are objectivity, extroversion and free-thinking.

Commission 2 of 3 for depicting my unicorn witch Selvamille. Like the last ones, I had pretty much full artistic freedom with these, and one day while brainstorming ideas I hit on a series signifying the three cardinal elements of the Druidic tradition (Some would say that fire also should be included, but in many Celtic spiritual practices, fire is a fundamental product of air and life energy instead). Since air is such a tricky element to depict, I instead depicted the feelings associated with it and how it interacts with the world (cloth and hair being a great medium for being windblown).

This one is intentionally supposed to look softer and more "wispy" than the Water piece, although I'm a little frustrated once again with how little the scanner actually picked up, especially the lilac hues. Also, for whatever reason it's grainier than usual. Ah well. Can't win them all right? I really like how the composition and flow ended up on this one though.

Done on 9x12 Strathmore sketch paper with various graphite pencils, blending stick, erasers and bright lilac Prismacolor pencil as accent. Character belongs to myself, while image rights are jointly owned by myself and the commissioner.
