Gon’ E-Choo! Color Sunday 06-01-80 - Hugh Otternaut vs. The Stargators!
This is the comic that should have run the previous Sunday, and it might help explain some of the otter’s motives that followed. Or not.
It wasn’t until after I colored the strip that I realized how much Hugh looks like Captain Kangaroo. There’s at least 3-4 intentional homages, and a few that may very well be completely accidental. Which are which will be sorted out later, perhaps. You're welcome to guess, but I'll only confirm some if the appropriate parties come forward to lay claim.

Love all the references and the fact that the logo is nearly symmetrical!

Someone else mentioned that the ruined futuristic "googie" city made out of the logo was one of their favorite parts of this comic, though they asked how it could still be lit.
Stargators might have perfected a form of self-sustaining light which permeated the interior walls of their structures, similar to bio-luminescence. At one time, they had an incredible far-flung interstellar civilization, but ran into the consumer-creator crisis where the end-users couldn't repair the technology or understood how it worked.
...but perhaps I've said too much....
