Uhm...wow, I got banned for a month on FA for starting a journal, asking about ForgetheWielder's ban. Admins call it "making journals to incite drama".
I was just asking other people their opinions on the matter...Guess I'm not allowed to do that?

Journal in question.
As dumb as it is to apply the term to a site that consists mostly of furry porn, it starts to get just a wee bit Orwellian.
Like most furry stuff I've come across it seems to have one primary issue. Half the user base wants the administration to be hands off and only deal with site-specific issues, the other half want a decency standard policed to their fitting, which means banning and removing people they feel aren't suitable for their collective. The end result is exactly as you speak, essentially Communistical ignorance. We welcome everyone so long as you say what we want you to.
*Shrugs* s'why I left. Corrupt as hell. It doesnt affect me at all but I can't tolerate injustice.
I suppose it's different for you as it generates so much cash for you. (That's a good thing)
The sooner great artists, such as yourself, move here for good, the sooner we can all start again somewhere new. I don't get why peeps are sticking to FA.
Above all else, FA has a large userbase and longevity. I heard that one furry art site that gotten an influx from FA users crashed because there were too many people going there at once (might have had to also do with FA downtime. Memory is foggy). Plus, as you noted, many people do business on FA. Many have settled down in FA. Other places, more or less, came and went, while FA has remained.
What I am saying is that any such major migration from FA to elsewhere will not happen over a long period of time. If One is to happen, give it time. Business aside simply moving from FA to Weasyl or Tumblr is not a quick and easy matter for many.
I find the sense in sticking with something just cause it's old and cause they're used to it highly questionable. This site is much better equipped for comissioners and artists doing comissions, is much better to look at etc, am I beating a dead horse? I don't think so. You're here too.
You are pretty much right. Still, as I said, give it time.
Also, when I say move from FA, I mean actually leaving FA. I am here. I have not "left" FA. I have too much on FA to simply leave it in a day. Same for others.
And I didn't mean to imply people say because FA is older. But it is one of the most popular places for furry art and it has survived for a long while. If FA is to die, it will not be sudden. There is no rush.
Weilder's ban was total BS, but this one might be worse. What the shit do they think Dragoneer's drama journal is?
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/3991/thewielderpermabankayla.png this is what caused my ban.
That was my thought. They majorly screwed up on the stalker issue, it was brought to the attention of the other users by an artist whose popularity was too great for them to try and bury the issue, and now they're trying to flex their admin powers wherever they see the chance to.. what? Reassure us that they care? :/
AFTER ALL THAT BULLSHIT about the stalker shit. THEY COULDN'T ACCEPT OFFSITE INFORMATION OF A SERIOUS ISSUE. BUT LORD FUCKING FORBID FORBID THAT SOMEONE SAY SOMETHING DEROGATORY ABOUT FA OFFSITE BECAUSE THAT MERITS A PERMABAN> HOLY TITS. jklasjdlajsldja I fucking dislike FA so much, but this shit and the way dragoneer plays sides like he does is total balls. Fucking ridiculous.
Usually ANY discussion about someone getting banned (even if it wasn't intentional) will eventually incite drama. But you know what, I check their rules for CoC and it says nothing about what you did to incite drama anyways. It was a matter of opinion and that was that. Otherwise, a month suspension is seriously a knee-jerk punishment right there.
Uhhhh
The way you were handling replies was really reasonable, too, if they'd bothered to read comments. And it was a totally valid question. Somebody upthread mentioned the situation being a little Orwellian and I'm... sadly inclined to agree.
I get that they are trying to save face but this was not the way to go about it. An explanation from Neer as to why this off-site activity warranted a ban but not the previous HUGE ISSUE would have been way more useful than a ban...
Administrative action there seems quite random. Not answering questions about why people are banned (an official policy on DeviantArt) makes sense. I can even understand Eka's Portal having an express policy that bans are not to be discussed on the site. However, FurAffinity has no such policy. Even if there is a rule about "inciting drama," it is way too vague a concept.
The drama here is actually about the FA ban over drama. Self-fulfilling prophecy is self-fulfilling.
The best part was how this happens right after they said they can't do this kind of thing if it occurs off site.
Good Job....xDD;;
off site ot was yes. but it was threathening the site. or ho you spell it. tha guy tried to tell people to hack the site. more and more i see the proof of Furries=big babies. prove me wrong will you
That is true. I won't disagree that that was a threat and was a suspend-able offense.
But once again-- As I said...This comes only a few days after Dragoneer REFUSED to ban a stalker who EVADED a block by making a new account simply because a large majority of it occurred off-site.
That and...if you as me...90% of FA should be banned...people talk smack about websites and others all the time. xD
BUT...I digress.
Bullshit on both accounts. And I'll bet money that if some no name like myself made a journal like yours, they'd totally overlook it.
Yeah but you know what I mean. I'm just a watcher with nothing to really put up beyond my own commissions. You're a rather popular artist that's posting tons of stuff. I post something about this, and maybe a couple people will read it, but if you have this out in the open a crap ton more people will be seeing it. I'm kinda tempted to put the theory to the test though cause this really is a bullshit move on their part.
such bullshit that is going on there. and its too keep all the goody2shoes all happy.
people talk shit all the time, make empty threats. no one would call the cops if someone was like "go die whore" wah, it hurts your feelings but nothing to go all admin crazy for. oh wait, its the only way he can get off :/
what your journal was was nothing bad, just voicing an opinion....but i guess no one can have them on fa >.<
Aaaaaand this is why we're now talking about this on Weasyl; because the admins here treat the site as an actual community site that is their responsibility, and not as their play-thing on which they can lay down the hammer left-and-right like that hall monitor in elementary school who thought he was Judge Dredd.
You have to be popufur to say what you want. <- Sarcasm/somewhat true
Its abuse of power, they can ban a guy who openly threats the site but can't ban someone who's been harassing/threatening/stalking etc. Lololol. How many bans have you went through already? Two I think, you're like immortal.
.......Y'know ... regardless of what all the brown-nosers want to believe ... if this shit keeps up, with all these really stupid PR moves on Neer's part ... FA -is- going to die. People are all like "oh, there's no -way- FA will ever die off, it's too imprinted within the furry community, it's too firmly cemented into our culture!", but, guess what? People said the SAME thing about FurNation. Go figure. =/
I'm sorry, but there's only so much damage a site's reputation (or that of its staff) can sustain before it's just a lost cause, and the simple fact remains that if this train wreck keeps on snowballing like this, and other similar incidents to this happen repeatedly in the future ... FA's days are numbered. People WILL bail out and go elsewhere, the site WILL lose traffic, and interest WILL decline, as better alternatives become available and thrive.
And the only one to blame for it will be Neer and his merry band of misfits. All because they have NO idea how to run a site properly and their idea of damage control involves a can of gasoline and a lit match.
Well, most your journals do tend to incite drama so maybe they had that reason, because admit it, almost every journal you create tends to blow up into 300+ comments war. Not saying it was righteous that they banned you because YOU created the journal, hell I could create just as much drama as you by asking the same. But like I stated, maybe that's why they did it.
But you did point out a pretty good point. Why would they ban Forge for an "outside the site" information when they earlier said they don't?
Don't they just hate being proven wrong those silly admins on FA?
A lot of Dragoneer's journals sparks drama as well, even if it isn't intentional. I can't really control the actions or opinions of others; just like I can't control your actions or your opinions. I see your point though.
