Friend System by Naoki
It has occurred to me that I've already accepted friend requests from people who I barely know personally so I guess to save face on that, I'll just say that I don't plan on using any of the friend-locking / privacy settings.
I AM (fake)POLITE ON THE INTERNET.

I'm not too keen on the friend system anyway? There's always this awkward feeling of "should I send a request, shouldn't I?" and I'm not gonna be postin' secret stuff :x

Yeahhhh and the Weasyl thing, as it stands now, is kind of a SECRET CLUBHOUSE because apparently people can't donate 5 dollarsssssssssssssssssss lol

I dunno! If it's a population control thing, then what's 2 weeks gonna solve. ;; They're going to need a lot of money to handle the capacity problems they're going to run into.

Well from what I can gather, they're still accepting donations as early entry.
It's just people being cheap I guess.

I have been saving myself the guilt by not accepting random requests unless I have had a personal encounter with people. As far as the friends only settings, that remains to be seen.

i send friend request to people thinking we could eventually become friends.. but if they refuse it, it doesn't bug me ... its a personal choice not to accept it and i would respect that.. but the option of friend'ing me is always there...

plus there is the option to unfriend them if you accepted by accident... and the option for friends is for anything you post you can have it only viewable by friends instead of it being public if you want too

I kind of figured it could be useful for psting things you want to show people, but don't want to post on a mass scale.I'll proboby make use of it eventually,personal art,closed concepts,commissions I put work into but don't want to draw attention from due to content etc etc.
It's a frivalous feature in some aspects, but it's there and can be made useful possibly. plus I suppose it makes up for/cuts down on those freind blocks people make on other art sites, myself included -
I guess since the number of real-life friends that will actually friend me somewhere online is low, I'll invite and accept invites to folks I've spent a long time getting to know online, people I think fondly about, or just people I can remember well. I'm going to try to keep my Friends list that way for as long as I can, since Weasyl is progressive enough to separate 'Follow' from 'Friend'.

PRETTY SURE THAT'S HOW MOST PEOPLE ARE or at least I hope so. No offence to some people but I genuinely feel bad at turning down friend requests, so I just go with them. :x
