Thanks and sum up (whoops, long post) by Leeden

Man i wasn't really expecting this.
When i left FA for Weasyl i thought it would take like, far more time for me to find an audience that would follow me there and all because i don't really feel like my art is that touching... you know, i'm not always sure about what i want to express in my pictures and i still feel a bit unconfortable with my current approach.
But it seems that i actually have many people just coming here and following me, leaving quite interesting or sweet messages and support, as much about my art than my latests personnal choices.
I mean... I don't really care about the fame, for i would probably draw the same if nobody watched me at all, but it's quite humbling that people actually love your work and express it that way.

So yeah, to everyone here that joined me, i wanted to say thank you. Sincerely. ^^

  • Feeling at home :

Well that might sound a bit silly but, being able to add my own banner, create folders and all, with the interface and options not being that intrusive, i gave me a good feeling about the whole personnal user experience. That's something i really missed from DA and Nabyn at a time, though DA is a bit too heavy for me... or was it at least when i left it 6 years ago. I think it really has changed back then.

I'm really looking to post more work-in-progress and sketches in the future, like said in another journal. For now my art folders and data are a bit messy cause i don't really take care of theses sketches. But i might have a few interesting one to show in the future.
I'm still looking for a different way of sketching. For now i just put random lines hoping it will work with color somehow.
I'd like to find something more about shape, like... you know, with little to no lines at all.

If anyone have good references i'm totally looking for that.

  • About my work :

Last year i was really busy working on a book project i migth have let a few doodles or character design leak from here and there. It took me a lot of time developping and looking for interesting concept, reworking a lot of my older projects to fit in one big stuff i'd like to see being published this year.
At the moment, the project is freshly ready to be showed to publishers and stuff. It's still a bit weak in term of content but, i'm really happy with how everything look so far.
Though i'm a bit unsure if i shall post more about this. I did posted a few boards on tumblr (with no text so far), even a few landscape. Somehow i'd like to give a little more but i feel really scared that a lot of that work leaks from thoses sites and end up being a bit weirdly spoiled at some point.

Beside, i still ow people some stuff and commissions i'll be working as soon as possible. =)

I was thinking of creating a few pictures in order to sell prints or stuff on redbubble, maybe t-shirts and stuff. But i'm a bit unsure about how everything work so, if you have little experience in it or advices to give i'm really up for that.

  • I think that's all for now.

So yeah, thanks for reading, and again thanks for following me ^^.

Thanks and sum up (whoops, long post)

Have you ever done a webcomic? Because I think I recognize you, but I can't remember the name of it but I used to read it until I had IT problems on my end.

    • Link

I never did so far. I might have submitted a few boards here and there but never a whole story. So this project is pretty much my first ^^.
But i'm curious about it. If you manage to find it back i would be happy to have a look =)

http://www.tinykittenteeth.com/ FOUND IT. Also looking at the comic and your art, it's pretty different.

Oh my, i'm such a great fan of Becky and Frank's work haha ^^ I already knew that comic. It inspired a lot of changes in my work actually.

Your artwork has tons of emotion and character, just keep it up and people will notice.

Are you planing to illustrate a book? :D

    • Link

I will buy 1-2 for sure hehe <D really like your style! = )

You got such a lovely style, perfectly suited for a book. Those screens did look very promising hope all will go well and we might be able to buy it soon

I'm also feeling more at home here and have noticed that I'm already getting a lot of watches, and many of them are from people who more actively comment and interact with me than I'm used to from FA, which is a nice surprise. Blackantlers has noticed the same thing. And it does feel very homey! I'm very excited for your book project and while I'm new to your work your style reminds me a lot of storybooks, which I know is a wide genre with countless illustrative styles but it's nice to see artwork that has a nostalgic, childlike charm that communicates so effectively. I'm glad I found you here!

Your art is way too inspiring to not follow you where ever you went! Weasyl seems like a much better place for artists, hope you have a good experience here C:

Good to hear your project is doing well! I hope the publishers like it a lot :D Best of luck with everything and I'm sure I'm not the only one ready to see more amazing stuff from you!

  • Link

Oh! RedBubble is SUPER easy, it's set up so anybody can figure it out and they have templates and things so you can lay out your merch the way it'll appear when it's printed.
It's nice to get $20 for doing "nothing" every few months. ^_^

So glad to see you here!

Most people who are coming over to weasyl are looking for a brand new experience and such, so it's definitely fun! I lost hundreds of watchers when I moved accounts, but this place still feels so much more welcoming and friendly to me. I'd much rather have less watchers if it means feeling comfortable and excited about interaction.

T-shirts with your work on them would be especially neat. But I'm most excited about the book stuff you're working on.

    Happy to hear you're settling in. <3 I'm really looking forward to seeing your project too! I saw your posts on tumblr and your style looks really good in comic format. ; w;

Congrats on all the support you're receiving! iui A lot of people who have relocated or just signed up for an extra place to post have been getting lots of support and I see a lot of pleasant journals in my inbox about it. I'm having a similar experience and I hope it sticks around iui It's so nice to come in and see all the wonderful comments and feel like I actually belong to a community again and not just my own userpage <3
