Summer Sage by Nambroth

Summer Sage

Nambroth

A Broad-Tailed Hummingbird visiting some Perovskia at a friend's house. I've been doing some experimental (and fun) paintings for an upcoming show! I first gilded the surface with 24k gold leaf, and painted on top. The gold you see is real gold peeking through!
5" x 7" Acrylic on board.

Brilliant. The jeweled, iridescent quality to the hummingbird's feathers contrasts perfectly with that gold leaf. We've got that exact variety of sage out in the back yard; that thing has gotten massive over the years and attracts Rufous hummingbirds in late summer like crazy.

What the others have said--brilliant and amazing.

OMG you painted a hummingbird without showing the gorget feathers flashing, I'm sure that's illegal. Like putting a female cardinal on a Christmas card.

      The struggle was real, honestly.
