Junco Whispers by Nambroth

Junco Whispers

Nambroth

Dark Eyed Junco. I've been doing some experimental (and fun) paintings for an upcoming show! I first gilded the surface with 24k gold leaf, and painted on top. The gold you see is real gold peeking through!
5" x 7" Acrylic on board.

I love how the gold sets off the cool colors of the painting. Magisterial Junco.

Dark Eyed Juncos are one of my favorite yard birds, scrabbling about through the leaf litter, flitting through the bushes. I often find their nests tucked in the undergrowth when I'm in the woods! The other day I saw one trilling his heart out in a flowering plum, he seemed like he'd pass out from exertion. (Though ours are the Oregon variation, of course.)

I really like how the colors are muted.
