Pyramid Scheme initial sketch by Sparkyopteryx

Pyramid Scheme initial sketch

Sparkyopteryx

For those that took part and gave feedback in my questionnaire journal back in February, you might recognize me mentioning working on a piece like this for the upcoming art show. This will likely be the only progress shot I will post, but post this I will!

I no longer apologize for how messy my sketches are for that is just how my mind works: Brilliant and cluttered.

I do not know how you did, or what metaphysical or antemundane, preternatural force brought this, but you have nailed everything I love inside this very creation c:

First of all, I can clearly see a powerful employment of symbolism here, with various elements that intertwine harmoniously, delivering a final, artistic masterpiece that makes you not only glance upon it, but also meditate over it.
That avian character in gentleman clothes is self-understandable, no need to comment on that. It does project the appearance of a carrion bird. Which is confirmed by the fact it's a vulture.

That triangle is an added element I adore. Triangle, in my opinion, is a figure which creates... tension, it instills aggression. It also suggests culmination, and assertion, illumination mayhaps even.
Then you have the renowed Eye of Horus which transmits a sentiment of royalty, and even knowledge, enlightenment. Though if I were to apply some present-day cultural interpretations, I would say it is also suggestive of esotericism, and intrigue.

All in all, this whole work projects a very powerful sentiment. In fact, this symmetry you did project a sense of elegant power and ruthlessness. All in all, I can see this representative of something challenging, something that wishes to dethrone... and consume. Very powerful work.

But this is only the image and sentiment I personally received from this. I am curious to hear more of this piece, it is so very intriguing!
I am sure you will trap the light of eyes with this very creation and other pieces you wish to exhibit at that art show, not only that, but you will also bewitch souls and tear down jaws making them drop to the ground!

Know that I love this, by the way! And I wish you the best of luck in that art show!

Eduard, I cannot express my continued happiness in reading your thorough, thoughtful and insightful comments. Now anyway, let me see if I can formulate an equally sufficient reply...

You are indeed correct that the symbolism is strong and all of it is intentional. I very much like your personal explanation, although I will hint that a lot of the familiar iconography here not only can be interpreted as you say, but also...bastardized. Corrupted. Spiritual aspiration turns to a desire for control, greed and paranoia. The sacred third eye is not used for enlightenment of the Self but instead used to scrutinize others and rob their identity. I've since uploaded the final piece so I won't get too into it since the imagery is a lot clearer and far more dramatic!

I'm the type of creator that given the opportunity, I will not only make images that are pleasing to the eye but also provokes thought (as in the case with you and your comment). Art for pleasure is all well and good but if it can also feed the soul and the mind at the same time, I have truly accomplished the vaunted title of "artist," at least in my opinion.

      Thank you kindly!
