Every time you've been to the bazaar, the tigress that smells like rose water with the hard jade gaze has been there. She peddles her supposed love potions and heal-all salves for a modest price and will even do a palm-reading session if one is willing to sit down with her. And every time you've walked past her, she looks at you. Not as a query but as an imperative. Will today be the day you go up and talk to her and ask her what she sees in the stars every night?
She is done! Another detailed graphite commission for the awesome . These last few pieces I've been doing over the past month I've been wanting to push tricky lighting, tonality and depth of composition so I went with bright directional light to play with placement of shadows, and of course use of interesting negative space. I think I did pretty good; this is probably one of my favorite graphite pieces I've ever done.
Done with various types of Prismacolor graphite pencils, a mechanical pencil and a bit of white gel pen here and there on heavyweight sketch paper. Measures a little shy of 9x12.

That lighting, those subtle tricks, that composition, that figure...
I gush for all of it.
