Ringing in the new year with a little bit of personal art! I've been picking at this since early September, just never really had time to finish it off. One of my new year's resolutions is the make time for more personal art. I realized that my hectic work schedule is never going to let up, so I can't keep waiting for their to be time to work on my own ideas. I need to MAKE time for it, even while juggling all the projects I have at hand. 2014 has started off with a major bang, as I'm currently working on a huge children's book project that takes up a lot of time, while still juggling my private commissions queue, 100 Deeds, and several book covers. So, doing art of my little Nym and her Alecani kin is something I must make time for, or she'll fade into the recesses of my mind, and her stories will never be told.

Once I know, I sure will announce! I'm super excited, though unsure what the title of the book will even be. Art direction has been tight lipped about book details other than what I'm illustrating, so once the full details come to light, I hope to post about it all. I'm really hoping the book will be available for sale online, so I can point people to a place to buy it too.
I love the colors on this! I am happy you are making time for personal art despite your crazy workload. I really love how the light shows through her feathers.
I love when your paintings involve feathers with light shining through. It's so pretty! ;w; The Alecani have such a neat hand and paw structure. Their entire design just seems to work so well. Can tell you put a lot of thought into their species.
Seriously, this is an awesome work. It's been sitting in my notification box for a while, I can't believe I didn't fav nor comment this already. Looooving the lighting effect here, especially through the feathers of the wings.
Kudos for an awesome and awesomely detailed work :)
