Anatomy Studies by Deriaz

Anatomy Studies

Deriaz

A few studies from yesterday that I still enjoy today. Still fiddling with the new scanner a tiny bit, mostly for how it picks up shading. It handles line-art just fine, though, so that's good.

People in the past said they'd be fine viewing my study work, and then I never really uploaded any outside of Tumblr. If people enjoy these every so often, I could keep sharing.

Poses gathered from quickposes.com . Mature for bums and sideboob, oh my~

Love these, especially how you handled the light and shadow of the figure on the left. I really need to kick myself back in gear and do more studies between my bigger projects since it's amazing how much sketching loosens up and refines your technique. I personally love seeing other artists' approaches to studies and sketches, so you've got no complaint from me if you share more.

It's okay, don't feel bad -- I'm right there with you. I am very lax about study. I need to do it a lot more. I have no real projects or anything going right now though, unfortunately. But I guess that means even more time for study! So I'll win in the end, I hope.

I'm glad you approve! If anything, I suppose I can always hide these in a folder after a while. And plus, maybe if I do enough studies traditionally, I'll get as good as your stuff is with it! Especially the inks. Yum.

I love quickposes. I started using it at the turn of the new year. I generally use the Timed Gestures category to get a wide variety of images, and sometimes you can tell when they update because you'll get something you've never seen before. The selection is small, but the site's really well done. My only complaint is selecting specifically hands or feet can get a lot of images with the same posing -- ballerinas on their tiptoes especially!! But that's so minor in the scheme of things.

Thank you! And I hope the site is useful for you. It's such a good resource. <3

Pencil shading!!! This was always my favorite part of art class...I love the detail in the muscle structure and how you've done the shading!

Mine too! We didn't get to use it much though -- charcoal was the preferred medium. Pencil will always be my first love, I think, even if it may not always be the strongest. There's just something almost meditative about it.

Thank you kindly, as always. <3

I think so, too...while I enjoy inking (it's one of my fave things to do, though I'd rather ink other people's art than my own! lol ), doing drawings in pencil are just very soothing and enjoyable to me. Sometimes I go overboard in my sketches and I'm like...yeah, I am not inking that, the pencil is too good!

I never got to use charcoal much in my classes...my teachers seemed to prefer painting the most. While I'd love to be amazing at painting, it's my worst type of art format! :)

        And you're very welcome!

True story: I'm so bad at painting I mixed red and yellow and got a greenish color. My roommate who loves paint was dumbfounded. We think I'm bad about how I clean brushes, but it was never really explained well to me. So that was always... Fun, let's say! I am always jealous of people who have fun painting traditionally.

It would probably make an interesting painting! You could always post that red+yellow=green online and start a trend like that "what color is this dress" thing! chuckle

I always get enthusiastic about painting...but nothing ever turns out the way it is in my head. I think all I paint now are craft figures...where I don't worry about shading and stuff. :)

Absolutely love seeing these studies! You've a very strong understanding of surfaces and rendering them. Any more? X3

There are a few floating in my sketchbook, as well as a few ones I did digitally, one of which I've shared on Tumblr; I might move it over here tomorrow or something. People seem pretty receptive to my studies on the various sites!

      Thank you! <3
