Living among masses of Sozkul on the shore are the aptly-named Sozlin. These lin, along with the Truzlin, are the only types of lin to very closely resemble the kul they share their territory with. However, unlike Truzlin, the Sozlin did not evolve similarly due to environmental pressures. In fact, they evolved so simply because the Sozkul and Sozlin share a rather recent common ancestor, while the other kul and lin have branched far off from their roots. Sozkul and Sozlin can almost be described to look alike in one breath except for a few very notable differences. While both have head-frills, a sort of tail frill, and similar coloration, the Sozlin are bipedal, lean, and lack the wings of their quadrupedal cousins.

Sozlin society is also very different from Sozkul. They live in tribal communities along the coasts of Threa. While Sozkul are not actively a threat to the lin themselves, they often go out and hunt any nearby populations of Sozkul; their teeth and bones are very useful for creating weapons and tools for the shore-based community. Furthermore, any nearby Sozkul can easily out-eat a population of Sozlin. Food is not a large issue, but it's one of the few commodities the Sozlin have to care about and so they viciously protect it. Lastly, of course, killing a kul is also seen as a mighty achievement. Though they look chubby and helpless, Sozkul are packed to the brim with muscle, tooth, and claw; many Sozlin have died to the defensive strikes of these kul.

The coastal lin have developed their entire communities around fishing and the sea. In fact, these lin were among the very first to discover the use of rafts and primitive fishing vessels to catch fish out past the safe shallows. Nets were also a Sozlin invention, though very primitive and often abandoned in favor of the more productive method of spear-fishing. Finally, while fish are most important in a Sozlin diet, these lin can and will also eat crustaceans and seabirds if they can catch or find them.

Back on track, sort of. I'm drawing some case studies before getting on with Breakthrough again to try and get my hands moving and back into drawing. :) I drew my last one in February and a certain someone has been giving me not so very subtle hints to continue. -cough cough-
