What I Miss the Most from Any Website by sonderjen

...was the ability to filter artists on FAP. That would make this place or FA a lot more interesting.

Speaking of, this place seems to be dead after the last surge of people from FA. Did we give up?

Not really. It's certainly getting a lot of traffic every day for me. Several artists I watch are pretty active. But expecting FA-level traffic is silly.

I have had more interesting conversations over here, at least.

  • Link

I am still here! Way more than other art sites too. I just... don't have time for art sites in general right now I suppose.

    • Link

Tell me about it. That was all of last year for me.

  • Link

its normal, every time something goes on with FA theres a big surge, it dies off again after a week or two, until the next thing with FA, but each time remains a little more active when it dies off. I've been doing my best to stay more active over here, I've entirely moved my request taking over here because I'm tired of FA going down every time i need to look at a ref.

    • Link

Yeah, Ive at least resolved to crosspost everything here, but without WaxPost, it would be too much of a hassle to do both.

  • Link

I would love for this site to be more active, but it seems people only put in effort when its most noticeable. Soon as an event passes no one seems to care much anymore. FA goes down, everyone moves, soon as FA is back up and a few days go past, they go back. FA is like a bad relationship.

    • Link

It really is at least a neglectful relationship, bordering on abusive.

  • Link

Well I know I'm still here and trying, interest did seem to fall somewhat though, I'd agree.

    • Link

It seems hard to get furries to do anything.

  • Link

Ah... I remember the filters from FAP. They were great.
But yeah, it's been losing users everyday but the artists I watch are still active so I find it worth visiting here. Check this graph out: https://status.weasyl.com/munin/weasyl.com/davaux.weasyl.com/weasyl_active_sessions_1d-year.png

    • Link

Ah, neat graph! That's not a bad increase, I guess no one I watch here is uploading much.

At one point, I was leading the charts with most filtered artists on FAP. I lost that title after a while, but I don't know how they beat me without filtering EVERYONE. I had almost everyone but new accounts and the people I was watching filtered.

      Because I am a snob.

  • Link

I imagine in part it's because the émigrés have mostly finished reposting their old art here, so that surge is over? For me, the activity level's as I'd expect from their modest numbers (about a third of my watch list).

and as for filtering artists, at least for FA, theres an extension for chrome called FurAffinity Filter, that can filter out specified users, and any specific words used in the title or description, it unfortunately lacks tag filtering though, so a lot of stuff still gets through

    • Link

No loss there, hardly anyone uses tags effectively there anyway. With FA's size, it would take months to filter everything I didn't want to see anyway, so I just avoid the main page.

  • Link

Nope, still sticking to my guns and going strong here. The activity did seem to dwindle some, but at the same time I don't feel like I'm having to wade through mountains of stuff that doesn't even belong on an art site to find enjoyable works.

  • Link

this place gets less traffic than FA, but it seems to be fairly lively; whenever I check the site, I have new stuff in my inbox. I've also noticed a few artists I recall disappearing from FA long ago turning up here; I just noticed Sneakerfox under a new name here...

    • Link

Yeah, there seems to be a bit going on, but it seems like the people I watch are taking turns dumping their art. Is there a way to turn off watching collections? I can't find anything on that and it seems to be one of the only things I have no interest in.

      • Link

I just hit the nuke button after clearing out the submissions and etc panels, if there's a wave of collections I'm not interested in checking through.

https://www.weasyl.com/control/editpreferences - you'll have to disable it for users you have already followed as well, but the setting is there!

(There's also a bug open to make changes to these affect everyone you've also already followed, no ETA, but we know about that one.)
