I'm in a bit of a rut, i'm starting new classes and things, for the few haven't seen me online a lot.
Something people have warned me against! And I didn't heed it I was the fresh young colt bucking around and working like a bull when I was just a wee horse baby. I thought i'd be immune to this!
But i'm not xwx and I dont want to do anyone bad giving them crappy art!
I'm currently going to fix my pattern in my lifestyle. And work on my way to make it so i can get my creativity back!
found a great tutorial, maybe you guys would like to look at it, I need to take this to heart
3 simple steps to a higher output and greater creativity
I know its for web designers but I think this works for artists and any other online worker.
Aw Cynnieminnie, no worries! No one in their right mind could blame you if you needed to take a little break to get your groove back. <3
Poor fluff, like Icarus you flew too high and started to melt...
Well, hopefully it's not as painful a fall~♪
I can really sympathize. I had a major art & creativity burn out at the end of last year that I'm still recovering from. Mine has a lot to do with perfectionism though and being stiff in the way I draw, so I'm actually trying to let up a bit and be free and draw without being so insane about getting everything right and just letting myself learn by drawing and drawing lots instead of drawing less but spending more time on getting each of those to a slightly higher standard . . . but I'm gonna have to read that article tomorrow when I'm not about to fall asleep because dang this is p relevant to all my creative outlets lately. anyways wow I got off on a bit of a tangent. I hope that you can recover from you burn out. take your time and take it slow and do what you need to do to get your art groove back and dispell the funk. and best of luck with the new classes! :D
Sweetie I wish you the best of luck with your new classes! I know that 'fixing' life patterns can be complicated but maybe you just needed to slow down and breathe for a lil'. Take care <3
I've noticed that even with a schedule, I still can get burnt out if I'm not careful. Monotony never bodes well (for me) and I've come to find that there's a few good ways to avoid falling victim to the Art Block. This I guess is kind of supplementary to the link you posted, it's just stuff I've found helps me. ( ' w')
1) Take time off. I take Saturdays, Sundays, and Friday evenings. Don't ever work on your time off, it blurs the line between "work" and "not work".
2) Go on "adventures." Staying at home all the time on your off days can be just as stressful as not taking any time off at all. I think this is because it's hard for me for my house not to feel like "work zone". Every other weekend or so I do things like going to the movies, hiking, kayaking, or visiting orchards or farmer markets. The newer the place, the better! Since you're in school this might be a little bit harder for you, but just make sure when you do have free time you get out and do something. Stagnation breeds stress!
3) Don't let friends or family monopolize your free time. It can be just as stressful as if clients were doing so- alone time is important and necessary. Set clear boundaries with your family as you would your clientele. Again, when you're in college this can be a bit of a task in and of itself but trust me when I say it's absolutely necessary. Just because you're doing "nothing" doesn't mean you don't have plans.
I guess what I'm saying is routine is important for work, but spontaneity is a key element to staying invigorated. Remember that you are more important than your work, and if you need time off in order to produce better, take time off. Getting burnt out can sometimes be unavoidable (too many other stress factors- work itself isn't always the cause!), but I've found the above list has helped me keep chugging along more often than not. :D
It happens!
I usually combat it by taking a break and doing some new things or watching/reading very different materials to get myself excited again :>
Take your time with my wildcard commission - I'm in no hurry at all to get it back. hugs
Make sure you have time to enjoy life and breathe, that's the important part.

I know the feeling... I've felt burnt out for years! Hopefully you will have a quicker recovery than I.
