A few honest questions. by KI-Fennec

I just wanted to ask a few questions regarding my recent uploads of commissioned artwork as future content and endeavors. I'd prefer you answer honestly because I'm using some this as feedback to fix somethings as well as plan out or restructure any plans or projects I have in the works.

So here's the questions:

1. How do you feel about the recent uploads of art that I commissioned? Do you like them or not?

2. What characters would you like to see more of?
A. My Main Fursonas
B. My Secondary Fursonas
C. Main OCs
D. Secondary OCs & Others

3. In terms of future art coming solely from myself, would you be ok with different subjects and content other than anthro art i.e. scenic artwork, vehicles, humans, etc.

4. What are some things I can improve on art-wise?

5. Would you like to see more W.I.Ps of upcoming artworks or just only finished pieces once they're done?

6. What are some things I can improve on in terms of interacting with my audiance?

7. Would you be interested if I started doing short comics in the future? If so, what styles or subjects would interest you? If not, explain why?

8. If I ever start doing comics, which place would you prefer I host them at?
A. On my main accounts.
B. On a separate account dedicated to hosting comics as well as other sites.

Those are all the questions I have. I'll be looking forward to the answers in the next couple of days. Thank you everyone!

A few honest questions.

    1. I honestly really like it! Many people upload commissioned artworks so I don't see why you can't either! As for the actual pieces themselves, I like 'em as well! They are your lovely characters and I feel like everyone has a right to show them off and in doing so, you also promote the artist and their style so if anyone else sees a certain piece that they think their own character(s) will look good in, then they can look up said artist thanks to you! I also upload commissioned pieces of my characters not only because I can't draw myself, but because I genuinely love supporting other creators to bring my dreams to life and I can really see that whenever I post a commissioned piece, people REALLY like them so it's a win-win for everyone involved, in my honest opinion! :)

    2. Personally, I'd LOVE to see more of Tommy as I absolutely adore that character's color scheme and design!! They just look so epic to me and just really stood out amongst all the others for me personally! However, I think it's important that you upload pieces of characters that you're the most proud of! The ones you really want people to see! Do you have a certain character(s) that you really want to show the fandom? For example, if it's Kai, post lots of arts and content about Kai! This way, it'll give people a chance to really get to know the character(s) that you want them to know! It'll give people opportunities to connect more with those specific characters! People really love Aoi and Amai, for example. I think they're my most popular characters by far and that's because I love to post about them! They're the characters that I have the most connection with personally and the amounts of fanarts I've received of Aoi, my main fursona, without ever asking anyone for fanart, is absolutely insane! I'm super thankful to see how much people love seeing Aoi, so much so that they're willing to take time out of their days just to draw her out of the kindness of their own hearts! Aoi was my very own design as well so it warms my heart whenever people are so delighted to see her! ^w^ For example, I really like your character Tommy. If you were to post more art of them, I would absolutely love that because Tommy's one of my fave characters from you so more art would give me more opportunities to see them/connect with them, like in the above example I've given! I hope this will give you more insight as well on what to post and who to post! ^^

    3. Yes, absolutely!!

    4. I cannot answer this as I'm not an artist myself and am not good at giving constructive criticism since I don't draw so this wouldn't be fair for me to answer.

    5. If you feel like you'd enjoy posting WIPs, then yes, absolutely! I'd love to see too what you're working on and what to expect! :3

    6. I think you're doing a good job in interacting with your audience already! Only interact in ways that YOU are personally comfortable with. Interacting with an audience can be wonderful but in doing so, it is very much important that you safeguard your personal boundaries as well and that an interaction doesn't go out of your own comfort zone.

    7. I always enjoy seeing furry comics specifically popping up in my feed so if you feel like you'll enjoy creating anthro comics, than absolutely go for it!! I'll be taking a look at that for sure! I'm being honest with my specifics as comics don't really interest me unless it's furry/anthro/animal related but remember, that is my personal taste. :)

Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you’re liking the uploads so far. I’ll be getting back to doing my own stuff pretty soon. I to see it as a win-win situation for both the artist and commissioner. I definitely got more plans for Tommy, especially story wise. He’s definitely on the underrated side of things. I’m also glad you’re showing interest in a comic! I plan on starting small with 5-10 page mini comics centered around one of my oc’s. Maybe Tommy will get some spotlight!

1 - those after Flexin' Magic seems more bland, mostly because the background is done in the same color as the piece, so there is nothing that pops out well, even tho they are quite good, but the mentioned piece and those before are quite stunning, both in terms of focus points and color balance.. but I'm not how far back you want us to go
2 - I'm not that familiar with your characters
    3 - sure
4 - nah, you got a better eye then me
5 - sketches can be fun, my gallery was ONLY sketches at some point, so I nuked it
6 - Q&As like this is fun, you could even do character spesific ones, you can even combine this with a comic, haing a community driven story, even if they only get to choose between options
7 - comics are a great way to present your characters and getting your community invested in your characters motives and actions, even by just showing how they interact in different settings. There will always be someone that then finds themselves in the character and then keep coming back for more.
    8 - Main?

Actually, I can't tell what art in your gallery is by you and not, even tried searching "user:Ki-Fennec -not_by_me" but even that left a lot of art that had others credited .. hm?

Thanks for the feedback! I can definitely see where you’re coming from. There’s some more interesting commissions I have coming soon although there 4 more pieces like the one you mentioned were bland. I’m currently working on a more detailed piece with full scenery. I’m glad you’re enjoying this Q&A! I’ll start doing these more often. I also like some of the ideas you brought up! For the comic bit, I’ll definitely start doing some small comics around 5-10 pages and see how those go.

For the art thing, I have the ones I drew myself separated into a folder. Honestly I kinda had to fix some of the folders as they were a little disorganized.

Your stuff looks good, but there is no dynamic poses to be seen, and often the same angle, so you keep your yourself in the comfort zone? (I know a lot one try stay unfinished, so you could have a lot unreleased ones)

But it does show good shading and colors (I can't color characters well at all), so that is impressive.. but if you gonna try comics, then there should be moments that need more action poses, so that will be fun to see you handle.

Yea, I’ve just now noticed! 😭
          Thanks for pointing it out.

    1. As I personally enjoy seeing artwork--I really don't mind seeing stuff you get from others. It's a way to see an artist's style if you don't know who they are (and possibly go and follow them). It's also a way to see interpretations of your OCs.

    2. I'm just happy to see art from you. So, this also tackles #3 as well. Draw as you feel at the time--and if you're happy with the result, you should post it. :)

    3. I suppose, like many of us--you want to expand your horizons. Tackle new things like doing full backgrounds or maybe doing challenges in different mediums or formats. I always love seeing people trying to do more backgrounds or dynamic poses--especially since I am also somewhat poor in doing these things myself.

    4. I think WIPs are good in moderation--especially if you do intend on finishing a piece. Just try to never make your gallery full of WIPs (meaning, you never finish anything) is a good rule, I think. :) I think just sketches are good to post as well--so it doesn't have to be fully finished art as long as you like it and want to share it.

    5. Responding to comments is something that always works, I think.

    6. I find comics to be hard to start and finish, but if you want to do it--go for it! :D So, that tackles #8--you should place them on the site you feel most comfortable with. :)

For some reason, the message box I'm typing in and the "formatted box" below it are showing different numbers--so I don't know how this will look when I post it. I answered #2/3 and #7/8 in the same line, in case it posts with the wrong numbers than what I've typed in. :p

And it didn't post as I typed it--it formatted it how it wanted to. UGH. The numbering is off from your question numbers as I combined answers. It's #1, #2/3, #4, #5, #6, #7/8 down the line.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I’m glad you’re liking the uploads so far! I’ll try to keep #4 in mind as well as #5. For #6 I’m probably gonna start with short comics to be on the safe side.

        You’re most welcome! :)

I was showing a co-worker recently all the various art I’ve gotten from friends and artists at conventions of OCs like Wabi, especially—so, seeing art of a single character from different sources is always fun. I think sometimes seeing how people draw your OCs can also inspire how you draw them…..flourishes someone else makes might inspire you to make it canon! :D
