Stay safe, everyone! by keirajo

My odd PSA for today--for everyone that I consider friends and acquaintances........and everyone else who is a living being.

Across the world, temperatures are rising at alarming rates. In the area which I live, we are setting record high temperatures today and tomorrow--with virtually no relief in sight until later in the weekend. There are so many areas that are experiencing this right now--I've never seen a weather map for heat be PURPLE in my area before (purple is the worst of high temperatures--then it's dark red, red, orange and yellow as it scales downwards in highs).

If you MUST be outside for any reason right now--please be safe, take water with you. TAKE AN UMBRELLA WITH YOU FOR SHADE--EVEN IF IT'S NOT RAINING AND NO MATTER HOW SILLY YOU MAY FEEL. If you've got ice packs and the like, drape them around your neck when you go out or even put them on top of your head--heck, if you wear a hat, put a small icepack underneath your hat!!!

In heat like this--don't grab an iced coffee, frappuchino or soda/pop/carbonated beverage to take with you. Do not ever convince yourself, because it's iced, it's okay. Caffeine, sugar and carbonation DO NOT keep you hydrated--they actually are detrimental to remaining hydrated in conditions of extreme heat. Take water, take ICE WATER...........or take the beverages that help you stay hydrated. There are many, from the world well-known Gatorade to newer sports drinks like BodyArmor. I highly recommend BodyArmor myself--I don't feel it has the aftertaste that Gatorade suffers from, it is made with coconut water (which is healthy for the body and is a natural hydrator)...........it has many different flavors for all people's tastes and it has a low sugar alternative version, to help more with hydration. But there are other similar alternatives sold throughout the world. And if you can't get any of those--just get yourself some water and keep that handy at all times.

Please, everyone--be careful and be safe if you have to go outdoors right now, for any reason at all.

Stay safe, everyone!

here in the uk it's just cold and rain.. >.< wish we can transfer some of that heat to over here because I wanna go to the beach when it's hot and it ain't even hot enough yet D:

I know there are some areas in Europe experiencing heatwaves like ours, too--a co-worker just went to Italy recently and it was very hot there while she was there. It was very strange to look at the Weather Channel website and see the colored picture of where the heat was the worst in the U.S. and I've never seen my area in the purple range before--usually further south is in the purple ranges. It goes to show that climate change is affecting everyone everywhere in weird ways.

woahh.. I wish there was such thing as trading parts of weathers to each other, but then again I don't think that'll do any good to the environment either QwQ cos like if someone from northern canada, alaska, or even greenland would like a bit of heat coming to their doors, then it could melt the arctic ice.. 0-0; so uh.. probably for the best that it doesn't exist.. •ω•; I seen people were planning on building cities and moving to the planet mars, but I think we need to focus on saving earth first because it feels like the humans are gonna keep moving to each planet until they destroy each and every one of them with their pollution and climate change D: instead of running away from our problems, we should go back and solve them... ahem, sorry for the deep subject ◠﹏◠; but when you think about it.. we should really save the world instead of abandoning it, cos it's not just their home, it's our home too and everyone's home, and we need to keep it alive y'know? <:3 we need to help all the plants and animals and provide for each other

There are times when I wish I could "pack weather" away and save it for the other season that's too extreme............pack up heat in the summer to save for when it's below freezing in winter and vice versa!

If weather could be nice and mild...........like to me 65-70 (fahrenheit--I don't know metric measurements), where you could wear shorts or pants, that would be perfect. :)

I like to hope that we can be able to space travel and find a new planet one day, before this one is gone. We all know humans won't change their ways--I just hope that we have an alternative before this world meets it's end.

storing weather away for later sounds nice too :o especially when you're unable to go out on a hot day due to stuff going on, it'll be nice to keep some of that for when you're able to use it ^-^

I uh.. don't really know what fanrenheit is...

yeah I think moving to other planets will be ideal when there's too much hooman population, that and if there's still too many of us, probably some restrictions on how many children we can have. luckily i don't want kids tho, too much responsibility plus kids scare me D:
I still think we should save earth tho, cos if earth gets destroyed eventually then so will mars if we don't change our behaviours :<

It would be nice to do so, that's for sure! :)

I don't know the exact calculations, but 0-degrees Celsius is 32-degrees Fahrenheit for us in America. It's a really weird calculation and I'm not ready for math today! XD But 65-70 is really mild, with a little bit of warmth--enough to go swimming and stuff and not be cold. :)

It's worrisome, because we may be past the point of saving Earth, I think. There have been reports this week about the oceans have now become too hot and that's why there are so many tropical storms and hurricanes the past few years. I'd like to find a solution, but I guess while people still disagree about climate change and its existence, we probably won't get too far in resolving or saving anything.

ahh i still dunno how much 70 is in celsius sorryyyy QwQ 20 degrees celsius and up is definitely ideal beach weather tho! ^-^ i come from a cold country you see. weeellll.. the uk is considered a temperate region and average warmth, but i still consider it a bit too cold to be average, cos winter is just the wooorst.. DX

yeah but even if it's too late to save some, we can still save what's left of it, you get what I mean? <:3

For sure! But more people definitely need to be motivated to try harder to be eco-conscious. nods

I don’t have air conditioning where I live, so I’ve been spending most of my day at the public library which does. I should probably bring an umbrella for waiting at the bus stops though. (As much as I can, I’ve opted not to drive my car for a number of reasons, especially now that it basically becomes an oven upon entering…)

I completely understand that--after the 20-some-odd-years I've been living on my own, I haven't had air conditioning at home, either. It's complex for their rules at my apartment building, let's say. But this year I finally went through all the hoops and got a small window-unit air conditioner.............it helps tons, that's for sure. But I'd always make the excuses on how I generally only sleep at home and spend most of my days at work............but facing retirement in the next 7-10 years, I've got to look at how I'll likely be at home more in the future.

Having an umbrella with me yesterday helped a whole lot more than most people might have expected! Definitely carry one for just the small bit of shade you'll get. :)

This heat is no joke xAx

You stay safe too okay ?

    • Link

It’s definitely not—I really don’t like to see triple digits on my thermostat! @_@

I shall! The other day I took a shoulder ice pack and wrapped that around my neck and used an umbrella to wait for the bus to go to work. Little things that may look ugly actually helped! :)

Over here in Arizona it’s been a tad above 110 degrees I do my best to bring cold water with me when I have to leave the house. Luckily I rarely leave the house and only leave when needed :) I have a good ax in the house :)

Yeah, every area is just getting hotter and hotter in summer. Just always take care when you go out and stay inside when you can. :)
