A Brief Howdy! by keirajo

To all that follow me--I'm not dead and I haven't stopped doing artwork or answering messages. laughs

The past few weeks have been insanely busy in my personal life--a lot at home, at work and this is the month in which I have a billion doctors' appointments at all my various specialists. Whew--and getting older means I can't cram as much into my days as I did...........say.........10 years ago, or 20 years ago. I do need to sleep sometimes!!! XD

I have taken all my PMs I need to respond to into Word documents offline--to try and do when I'm at home this weekend. This will allow me time to answer them more comfortably and not try to speed through it during my limited time online--or try to manipulate a message on my poor tiny-screened cellphone, using cellular data. wry laugh I am on vacation next week, but I do have to go out a few times to appointments and such--so, I will be going somewhere with wi-fi to get online a few times next week. But with my apartment complex still not finished with the upgrade of our heating systems--I can't really do the "major rearrange" of my apartment that I had HOPED to do during my vacation week........as this project requires us to keep things 3-feet away from the walls. It's fun being squished into living in the center of my apartment right now....... @_@

I'm glad I started keeping a password book--I found, yesterday, I was logged out of Weasyl on all my devices. QUICK, WHERE'S MY BOOK??? XD I need to try and get passwords for other sites that I've lapsed on writing them in my book for. Man, if I get logged out of Toyhou.se--I may be screwed, because I have two passwords written in my book and I am not sure which one (if either) are actually the correct one--I remember having to update it at some point and I think I changed it.........I don't remember. @_@ I should get all these passwords that I'm uncertain of written in my book and get into these sites on my iPad, too--for the future. And, because, I suck at passwords--remembering them, that is. laughs

I've seen the latest Pokemon Scarlet/Violet stuff. The newer Pokemon revealed. We're a couple months away now and we still haven't seen the second evolution of the Starters. Honestly, I thought those would be revealed by now. :p I've also checked out a bit on "Sonic Frontiers"--which I can't believe Sega plans a world-wide release of that within a week of Pokemon's world-wide release........are they seriously setting themselves up to fail on this? I mean, not that Sega's ever been very good at making an enjoyably playable 3-D OPEN WORLD game. Heck, the 3-D on rails games are kinds glitch-filled fests of gameplay. It looks lovely, it's certainly ambitious--but the release timing and the past of the Sonic franchise in 3-D leaves me very little hope for an actual good game........ :/

In other news, I'm hoping that once October is here, life will get back to normal for me. I hope to do SOMETHING in October for Inktober--but I'm not certain I could do anything daily at this point. Maybe weekly? We'll see.

What all are you guys up to? Having fun? Back-to-school? Upcoming projects? :)

A Brief Howdy!

cool I have a password book irl too where I keep note of all my passwords in a hidden place :3 it's top secret so nobody's allowed to look at it unless I've died
yeahh I'm not sure why they aren't revealing the starter evolutions either, I've been really nice and patient on waiting but I'm still a bit curious :o I'm interested in choosing sprigatito as my starter but I also wanna know what they evolve to. quaxly will be my second choice if I ever decide not to choose the grass cat. I really hope that one day there will be another mystery dungeon game with all the new starters, I'd so be a fennekin again but this time sprigatito would be my partner X3 I also hope that there will be more eeveelutions in the future, I'd really like to see a flying type one ^w^ It would be awesome if the ears will be like wings and the floof around the neck would be like a cloud, that would be adorable :3

I still feel like GameFreak is no longer really making Pokemon for the fans, but for the money. Otherwise they'd focus on making a really good SINGLE-PLAYER game, but so long as they focus on their multiplayer online aspect, fans are only really going to get subpar Pokemon games.

I'm honestly surprised there hasn't been a new Eeveelution introduced yet--I was betting on it for Sword/Shield, but it never happened. I wonder if they're having a hard time designing what it might look like for some types--honestly, I think something like a Rock- or Steel-type would be easier to design than, say, a Dragon-type.

yeahh I notice they don't always listen to their fans, and that the newer games are easier to complete than the older games which is something I miss about the older games, because I always get sad after I complete a game cos it means no more story and no more main quests, I mean it's good it's still playable 'n' all but I really like it when games have stories that last you see. This is why I also like the Pokemon anime aswell as the One Piece anime, the story never ends so you can still be able to enjoy it whenever you wanna and not have to worry about the series ending ^w^

ohh see I quite like some of the multiplayer features :o means I can play with friends more ^w^ I really like spending time with all my friends so having multiplayer options means I can still see all my good pals while enjoying a good game together :3 I really like teaming up with them especially, I love teamwork games like Toontown and Wizard101, they're also multiplayer rpgs but for the pc though Toontown has been revived twice with 2 revivals which is cool ^w^ You should see Impressive Title tho, that has tons of revival versions of the game XD My best friend Moonwing207 has even made 2 versions of the revival! :D

Yeah, a bug type or a flying type sounds like it would be really easy to design while other types such as fighting and poison type might be more challenging to come up with for a new eeveelution. Either way, if they do come out with new eeveelutions, I hope they're all gonna be just as adorable as the rest of the ones we have ^w^

The online multiplayer is not enjoyable (like the Dens in Sw/Sh) to those who have no online capability, unfortunately--if you've ever tried a 5-star Pokemon Den challenge with JUST the A.I., you know it's extremely painful and self-defeating. Unless GameFreak addresses this and ups the intelligence of their A.I. for these things--there's no point to these features for offline players. I think online multiplayer should be an OPTION and not a forced endurance on all players. From some of the whispers I heard, they made trashy A.I. to force players online--and, unfortunately, the other drawback to playing online is the REQUIREMENT to have a Nintendo Online subscription. You couldn't do anything online--trade, play with others, unless you pay the fees to have a subscription to their online service............when, in the past, these features were free to players to trade and battle online. Pay-to-play is a horrible way for companies to go........ :/

I doubt things will get better or more fair, though--most gaming companies are going the pay-to-play route and moving to online subscription services. And even the ability to only get games online (such as Sega's release of "Sonic Origins"--you can get it in the eShop, digital, only--there's no physical edition of the game). This means some gamers are going to be forced to quit gaming in the end--I already know that probably with the next generation of systems when they force everything to be online, I will no longer be gaming with no home internet and it'll take a chunk out of their fanbases for that, as well. Despite what companies think--not everyone is online in this world, sadly. shrug

          • Link

I mean I guess I can agree that multiplayer should be optional and shouldn't have to cost, especially since it never use to cost a thing to play online in the previous consoles.. and yeahh I can agree that the ai and cpu players should be smarter or at least have some sorta difficulty level

Have you ever thought about having internet in your own home? It might make life alot easier, plus most people these days tend to have one at home. If you're friends with any of your neighbours and they have internet, maybe you could not only spend some quality time with them but if they let you use their wifi, you could also do anything you needed to do online while you enjoy your time with your friends :3 Though I understand if you can't afford the internet, it's just a suggestion

We’re limited to choosing a specific company in the apartments where I live—and I gave up using this company years ago, because they increased prices outrageously and had extremely poor customer service. It was not worth it to keep using them. And as long as I live here—it would be this company or nobody. Currently I have a mobile hotspot through my cellular provider, but it’s incompatible with gaming systems (the type it is will not allow a gaming system to use online services—only download updates.).

Honestly, good single player games are rare anymore—even RPGs have moved the way of multiplayer. I prefer playing games on my own, when I have time. So, I guess my world will become mobile puzzle games in the future! XD

im the same with passwords i need to write them down xD. even my own safe combination xD i may need to try to find my key to it somewhere my forgetful self forgot where i put the key even whoops XD currently working on an animal crossing fan art :D

I used to remember them when I was younger. But then the world came to this "change your password every three months" thing and I began forgetting what my passwords were. I had to buy a book to specifically write them down in. XD

I have been swamped with shifts at work and have had no time to get on here or make art either x.x the art gods be cruel lol

Can't say I am all that interested in the new pokemon game but I do really like the little jalapeno croc and that weird alien looking lemur thing

I'm curious to see what Fuecoco will evolve into--I hope it'll be unique-looking and not just a Feraligatr rip-off........as some of their design have tended to be over the years.

Yeah, having a life that involves a full-time job really eats away at your free (or fun) time, for sure! @_@

Ngl, I’ve been pretty busy myself.

I’ve been trying to put as many hours in as possible. So I’m hella exhausted. That and I’ve been dealing with an invasion of mushrooms in my yard, which has now resulted in a slight phobia of fungi. 😭 I was trying to finish up this last bit of an art trade, but now I’m doing more art for this other person as payment for this pretty cool character design they have on OTA, I might use it for inktober once I get it.

I definitely need to start keeping a password book too as well as a password manager. Had a data breach on one of the sites I used a year ago and due to my ignorance, I lost a couple of accounts. Mostly my secondary PSN accounts, but I haven’t had a PlayStation since 2019. Still I need to finish redoing my passwords and stuff before anything else gets hit. 🤦‍♂️ But when I change my password, I easily forget it a few weeks later.

Not too privy on the new Pokémon yet, but I really don’t have too much hope for the new sonic game. Last genuinely good sonic game I played was sonic unleashed imo. I’m more of a classics/adventure type of person when it comes to sonic. Still, I’m gonna look into the new Scarlet/Violet game and see what’s up. I’m hopping it’s more available as I don’t have a switch.

Strangely, mushrooms have been EVERYWHERE the last few months. I went by a house that had HUGE ones growing in their yard, right after they’d mowed it. I was surprised at how big the caps were on these things! @_@

I used to be so much better at remembering passwords until a lot of services made you start changing them every few months—and I got older, of course. Aging brain+technology=disaster every time! XD

I still prefer the classic side-scrolling Sonic, myself. “Sonic Mania” was just such a wonderful gift to fans, in an age where 3-D was taking over everything. I think my last Sonic game I actually finished was “Sonic Colors” on the Wii…..which I did love that game, even if some of the levels drove me bonkers. It might be the 3-D game I like the most after “Sonic Adventure 2”! :)

Yeah those things do weird stuff too. Sometimes they'll grow on top of each other. My dad was running a mail route and saw three of them stacked on top of each other, forming a shape of a little hut. 😂

I can feel you on that. I wish there weren't so many Data breaches and leaks. Speaking of which, GTA VI just got leaked recently by a hacker. About 90 videos and the source code. I feel bad for the devs considering that leaked source code = being potentially screwed for good. Back to the subject, I had made a little system for some of my family Incase they lose their password. Though it might be better if it's analog.

I gotta try sonic mania sometime soon. I low key slept on it at the time because I was busy with Naruto ultimate ninja at the time. The same with colors. I used to be more into sonic that now tbh. I was even into the fan stuff like Nazo unleashed. I heard the creator was working on a sequel a couple of years back.

Because I’m THAT OLD, I always think of big mushrooms as “Smurf houses”, since I watched that cartoon as a kid! We just had a massive storm system yesterday and TONS OF RAIN this weekend—so, I’m sure I’ll see tons more mushrooms over the next few weeks! XD

We can always compliment humanity on lack of respect to others—especially when it comes to online stuff. People hack because it’s fun and they can get money…..instead of working a legit job. :/ I’m sure many never think of lives they hurt and ruin when they do things like this—it’s a sad state for society.

“Sonic Mania” was such a love letter to classic Sonic games. It was wonderful of Sega to allow this small company to make it—there was the nostalgia of classic (reimagined) levels and gorgeous new levels. Golly—get yourself a Switch!!! :o As a long-time old school gamer….I’ll recommend it. It works wonderfully as a handheld and a console—Nintendo created something beautiful with it. I do recommend a regular Switch over the Lite, though—so you can do the console stuff, plus there’s uncommon breakage of the C-Stick/D-Pad on the controllers. THE DRIFT IS REAL! XD You can replace the JoyCons, but a Switch Lite is merely a handheld system version of the thing, you can’t replace the pieces. (I have a Switch and Switch Lite, so I’ve used both.) But the Switch version of “Sonic Mania” also has the DLC (paid and bonus) from the original PS4 and XB1 versions included.

Hah, I think the sam sometimes. Love watching that show on boomerang along with the snorks. Man I miss old boomerang fr fr. I don't think I be getting anymore anytime soon unless it rains, but I did see some peach colored ones on a stump an hour ago. Not like the little staircase ones, but regular looking ones on long stalks. They were pretty big!

It kinda boggles my mind why people even bother doing crap like that? Just get a legit job and work hard. Simple. But some want the "easy way"

I did see a bit of sonic mania and it's definitely well made. Love the sprite work! Really looks fun! I might consider picking up a switch at some point once I get a steady amount of savings. One of my friends has one and I played super Mario on there, and boy was it fun! Might have to play on there a little more to get the feel for the controls. Speaking of which, the way the controls split is pretty cool for co-op! Even though I already own a steam deck, I'll still probably buy a switch if the exclusives temp me enough. I'm probably more apt to get the switch OLED because the screen is a little better. I'll have to check those out ASAP.

Well, just saw the trailer for Scarlet/Violet. I'm sold! 😃

              • Link

Ooooh! Save up for that Shiny Switch! Maybe you could be lucky and get the Scarlet/Violet one….it looks really cool! (Again, I can’t legitimize a 3rd Switch in my life—or I would get that one! XD)

            • Link

I grew up in the 80’s, when Saturday Morning Cartoons was the thing. So I love all my classic cartoons (and general 80’s t.v., as well!).

I would think all the effort involved in hacking……it would be easier to do a tech job legitimately, but what do I know??? XD

A Switch is a great investment—definitely get the OLED one if you can. I can’t really legitimize buying a third Switch in my life, but I hear great stuff on the OLED version. The Mario games are also so great, I really need to buy the remake one that comes with Bowser’s Fury. On my to-get lists one day are the new Smash and Mario Kart 8 (since I loved 8 on the WiiU).
