Back in the Dark Ages of the 1980s, I was an Armed Guard at a Nuclear Power Station. The Utility was (reasonably enough) concerned about the living creatures around the plant. That concern was reinforced by the Environmental Protection Agency, who was as much an overseer as the Nuclear Regulatory Agency. The plant had cooling water intakes and discharges in the bay, and there was a Research Lab at the discharge pool, housing sea creatures that had lived under mild radiation for decades -- including a couple of lobsters that had grown to sizes far in excess of any record-setting wild-caught lobster. They looked perfectly normal (if hyooge); but if they had looked like this happy camper, I wouldn't have been at all surprised...
