Notice Me, Senpai by Xathoa

Notice Me, Senpai

Xathoa

This is my dinosaur action figure, Zabvi. I got him for a great price.
And... HE HAS AMAZING ARTICULATION! I mean, seriously. Lookie! (google search link, by the way)~
Anyway~!
I was messing around with so many poses on the adorable action figure, and then, I remembered a site I was on, and how they were releasing really annoying "peepee" legs for their avatar bases. SO, I wanted to make fun if it. I put his little arms together, turned his legs inward and a bit awkward, made him look up... and then I turned to my partner and asked in a deep voice (being Zabvi's) "I hope Senpai notices me". He did a double-take and laughed.
And it became a thing.
Zabvi doesn't actually KNOW his senpai, but he asks anyway.
Oh my gosh, so much pink. I was imagining so many magical girl transformation sequences to do it.
Anyway, enjoy!~

    What is "senpai"

    • Link

"Senior" in Japanese. You see it when subordinates address a more seasoned individual, be it in a professional or academic setting.

I always thought senpai meant something like a teacher or something of the like. Someone of a higher status.
Google search says.... Almost the exact thing. A mentor they say.
It's a meme that went around where I was- and it's weird, and I can't forget it. So with it being usually attributed to anime girls who wish THEIR senpai noticed them, I thought it'd be funny if my non-anime dinosaur said it.

But...a mentor is supposed to notice them because they are supposed to teah them, kind of negating the need for such a phrase.

*Well, it's more or less "Notice my affection and feelings" than it is "notice me to see how I'm working".
It's an anime stereotype and theme that goes on. I don't remember which anime does it more- there was one. But I'm sure you can ask around. I tend to watch different anime without those kind of love interests. My interest tends to go into the strange fantasy and stuff, like Black Rock Shooter, Ghost Hound, Baccano, and a few others.

This phrase comes up a lot in anime with a teacher + student love interest thing. So that phrase is used- I assume. Because feelings of love usually are forbidden or shied away from.*

A love interest between a student and a teacher is very frowned upon. People go to jailnfor that kind of thing...but female teachers get off easier on that for whatever reason. EQUALITY!

            • Link

I know it's frowned upon. It's why the saying and meme is there. And it's an anime stereotype. The forbidden is shown a lot in some animes.
In this case, for the dinosaur, it's more or less a joke. Zabvi, the dinosaur there, doesn't have a senpai. And this is more or less to be a funny picture.

This may be the single weirdest picture starring a dino I've ever seen.

It's weird, for sure. But it makes me laugh nonetheless. xD
And it was weird saying it with a straight face.
But- I hope that means you like it~

In a strange way, yes, I do like it. It's goofy as all get-out, and kind of amusing, even if it is particularly strange.

Well, I'm glad you do! And I'm glad it could put a smile on your face, as strange as it looks and is. xD
