Anyone remember Neopets: The Darkest Faerie for the PS2? That game where you play as a sword-wielding dog as you face off against evil faeries and giant snake swamp monsters?
...no? Okay then.

I am absolutely floored that the Gelert Assassin (also known as The Assassin) does not have much fanart at all. I searched all of the sites for artwork on this guy and there are like five drawings of this guy total on the entire Internet.

Which is a shame because The Assassin is a really cool character. I just love the idea of a cute little kiddy game like Neopets creating this character that has killed people before, gets hired to kill children that have no real idea how to stop this nationwide curse from a twisted fairy creature, and even has this twisted backstory where he used to be a farmer in Meridell until his wife suddenly dies and it just snapped him like a bitter twig to the point where he becomes this cruel monster that decides to take up stabbing people for a living because he has no happiness in his life anymore.

And that's what I like about Neopets and something that I feel they don't get enough credit. They have a really neat cast of characters that not many people talk about. And before someone is like "Yeah, that was BEFORE the revamp that KILLED NEOPETS", some of their best characters come from the Obelisk and the Faeries' Ruin plots.

Yes, the game where you dress up penguins, ponies, and kittens in dresses and hats has deep storytelling sometimes.

Unfortunately, some details on the guy kind of fell off when I drew him. I also kind of botched the dagger and his hands.
