Missions End by Teiirka

Missions End

Teiirka

11” x 14” graphite line drawing to be used to transfer to the color pencil piece.

This is the character in which I took my name early on. He is one of many many characters in my proposed Ark Worlds series and the one I suppose I would most like to be in a fantasy life. Anthropomorphic siberian tiger starship pilot. :)

I will be making some modifications as I go but as always, critique and suggestions are appreciated.

It was the missing link in the intelligent design theory, and when the human world was discovered, it was hoped that the reason for the creation of the Confederated Worlds and their respective dominant species, would be at last answered. But still more questions arose instead. And although the humans were definitely the genetic template in which all known sentient beings were based, and their planet, the only naturally occurring world now in the confederation, was the one in which all others were patterned, it was determined that they were not the creators and lacked the technical knowledge and capabilities to perform the genetic engineering involved, let alone the ability to create entire planets along with detailed functioning ecosystems. In fact, human technology was quite primitive, having just barely reached the stage where they were able to explore beyond their own planetary boundary.

But in the end, Earth was reluctantly invited to join the confederation. This was partially due to the fact they now had in their possession, a starship, wrecked but still technically informative, and partially because no one wanted a loose cannon out there on the fringe. And besides, although the humans had little to offer in the way of raw materials or advanced technology, they had reached a degree considerably higher than all other planets in their development and sophistication of certain vices that were suitable for export…

“Ark Worlds” series. Outlined though it may never be written. I do have spinoff short stories in the works.

This was hastily written and does not tell much about the Ark Worlds, but I’ll work on something.

Mmmmm! Bailey's Irish Cream on the rocks and a good cigar. Can't get better than that!

      Why Thank you! :D

Coloring will commence in a few minutes. :)

Nice! For some reason it reminds me a bit of ME's Normandy

Thanks. Had to look that up. Nice ship! Starships were a favorite drawing subject as a young'un.

Some of the planetary BG scenes depicted will help me create mine. :)

It may be that my recent spree of playing Mass Effect made me automatically think that the background in this pic was outer space and a planet, while not sure if that's true, it'd make a killer background in the correct picture.

        Lovely tiger, by the way!

Yes, it is the observation deck on a starship, well his own ship really. The planet is behind his head and the other thing is a moon but that will be variable.

Hi, the piece is looking very nice so far. You might wanna check a bit the hands, especially the one holding the cigar. Try to find images on the net, or to sketch your own hand on the mirror.
Don't get me wrong: that's where I have the biggest difficulties also. It's the case of many artists (outside of the furry thing also).
Otherwise, you can go on with the stripes!

Yep, hands are by far my weakest point. I'll work on it now. Thanks

Looking fantastic. Can't wait to see the finished piece :)

It's got a Sagan-like quality to it, in a great way. I can't believe I'm saying this, as I'm a hobbyist at best, but I think the hand holding the cigar is under-rotated. My intuition says it should be more parallel to his left thigh.

Sorry if you've already started coloring it! I'm just thinking out loud.

      And by parallel I meant the exact opposite; perpendicular to his left thigh. My mistake :{

Thanks but a wee bit fan along to make corrections now, the piece is about done and I'll be posting it this evening. It had been corrected a little since this first sketch though.
