Peeling Redux by Swatcher

Peeling Redux

Swatcher

You've stumbled across an abandoned costume store, naturally. It doesn't matter how or where you were when you found it, you go inside. All of the costumes are dusty except this one. Its skin shimmers wetly in the dim light. Naturally you kick it off its stand and try it on for size. Its form flexes, comfortably, conforming to the perimeter of your body. Walking around in the comfort of your padded claws, you find a door, ajar. You pad through into a field of wet wild grasses, which you can actually feel through the webbing of the costume's toes. A path leads down to a small, dome-shaped cave. As you feel about your oversized teeth with your forked tongue, you sense that something about your body might be amiss. You unzip the costume, only to find another zipper underneath holding together the same green belly scutes. Hmm. You remove the dragon costume only to find that you are still a dragon. Again, you unzip. Yet another dragon costume underneath. You begin to feel panicked. Again and again, no matter how many layers you peel off, there is no getting back to the you inside. You are stuck like this.

And then you roll around in the grass and murr forever. :3c

Reupping from FA, where this was a remake of an older drawing.

Or actually, you put all of those costumes on the grass back on, layer by layer...

Looking at this one again it makes me consider some things. I frequently have these anxious dreams that repeat themselves, making me wake up, and when I fall asleep they simply continue. It's a horrible night.
Yet this is something else. Similar, but so very different. At some point the realization that unzipping a fresh coat wouldn't really be all that bad. I am a dragon now, after all...and if I get muddy I can simply take off a layer. Think of the potential use of the old layers. And do they turn others who would put them on?
    So many things to ponder.
    Roar, also.

If I let myself I would just draw this concept over and over again forever because it's JUST SO MANY BUTTONS.
