Today was more exploration with the tone tools. Having gotten fairly comfortable with them I think the only problem is that this would be too dark for print. When I was working on comic books in the 80's and 90's the rule of thumb was that offset printing would add about 20% to the darkness for tones, so you never wanted to get darker than a 70% tone (except for gradients.) This probably went a little dark. Manga, being printed on terribly cheap paper loses a ton of tonal range, tool so there you need to have reduce your values to discrete blocks (tones in 20-25% increments, with nothing darker than a 75%) So I got a bit carried away, and tried to match the depth of the pencils. Interesting method on the foggy breaths. Normally I wouldn't care for that, but with your style, I think that works really well. Nice!
