Moon Rise by Ryngs

Moon Rise

Ryngs

Alla-prima oil painting.

The Moon Rises in the clear early evening sky, as do the owls, making ready for their nightly watch.

Another random bird in oils because I can. Like this one: http://stickypawz.timduru.org/Art/01GoldenE.html done to fill spare time, and scratch my urge to paint small random fast paintings. Things as this are for those antsy times between commissions or while I wait on customer feedback.

If you feel you need to be in the studio or doing art then do it! Don't have anything to art? Then go to a random word generator on-line and art whatever comes up. That is what I do. I have a sketch book full of random animals (and my Unicorn Face). Sometimes these sketches - like this one - end up painted. I have a few of these small canvas boards prepared, and sketched on so the minute the urge to paint hits I don't have to take an hour or more for the prep and drawing. Sometimes they are blank and blind paint slinging sessions like this one: http://stickypawz.timduru.org/Art/01FetzBD.html

Done in Oils, wet onto wet (Alla-Prima) in around 3-4 hours. This one was a little tedious and had a set back or two. Otherwise it might have taken half that time. I kind of want to go back once its dry (yes its still wet), and work it over, but that would defeat the purpose of these oil exercises. In the end I am pleased with it... Mostly...

When it dries I will re-post this one with a better scan, as this was the best I could do with it still being wet.

Yea, that was the tedious part, mentioned in the description.

Your handling of the vivid colors and lighting of early evening is astounding! I'm mesmerized by how much depth you were able to capture in that eye especially...

      Thank you [Bows]

The eyes are the door ways the to soul. Master the eyes, and capturing a glimpse of the soul of the subject, and it will carry the rest of the painting.

The time of day in this painting is one of my favorites. That moment when you have had a very productive day, and you grow both tired, and listless. You want to socialize, relax, and enjoy the golden light. The limitless possibilities of the magical night being heralded by the rising moon.

All Hail Luna! All Hail the Night!
