This is great. Your choice of intermediate species is spot on, and much more satisfactory than hybrid would've been; (raccoon -> opossum <- rat) and (rat -> pigeon <- seagull) check out perfectly to me. It doesn't hurt that they're a few of my favourite things, too :)

You understand why one of the composites is a gryphon (a mythological creature) rather than an actual animal, correct?

Sloppy writing on my part. Yes, I do know it's mythical and a hybrid. I was just commenting on the bits of the image that I particularly liked. (Not that I have any problem with gryphons. Some of my best friends are gryphons!)
