Dranhinga by Nambroth

Dranhinga

A dragon inspired by a bird? A bird that is also a dragon? Either works for me.

Watercolor and ink.

The clue is in the name! It is based on an Anhinga :)

Oops, my bad. I did not recognize the beak in your artwork (which is why I leaned towards cormorants), and was not familiar enough with the name to recognize it instantly either (I assumed this was a personal name for a dragon species of your creation). Sorry for seeming a bit stupid for a minute here!

HAha it's okay! The biggest giveaway (especially on the real birds) are those bright white piano-key like feathers on the back of their wings. I gave my dragon a bit of a hooked snout which an anhigna wouldn't have.

Right at home in the mangroves and not your typical bird to push around.

Oh neat! I have a FR dragon named Anhinga (most of my dragons are named after birbs) and I recognized the species right away! Well done <3

I LOVE this. I saw an anhinga exactly once in my life and I screamed inside the car <3

I was silently screaming the whole time I saw them in FL! It would have been rude to scream aloud, as one was actually quite close.
