Upper Limit by Meg James

Upper Limit

Meg James

This (and also my other scenery stuff) is for sale on Society6! I believe Society6 altogether is having some kind of lil cyber monday sale too, with $5 everything and free shipping until the end of today (Pacific time!). That's cool!! There's tons of nice art and stuff on Society6 so if you still have any cash to burn on cyber monday sales, you could check it out.

I forget what my intention was with this picture, but I think I said on tumblr that it looked like some kind of awful jump puzzle. (Falling into the abyss teleports you back to the very beginning, augh!)

I know I already said this, but I absolutely love this picture! If this were an actual jump puzzle, I don't think I'd ever get annoyed because the scenery is so beautiful :D But seriously, great work!

Even pretty jump puzzles can be awful! I can see it being nice, though, as long as there are no sneaky monsters with knockback abilities. Thanks!

Aaa, I'll take that as a compliment, though I'm not actually familiar with Kid Icarus! 8'D

most certainly it's meant as a compliment! i'm very fond of that game's aesthetic and thematic style, which has a strange dreamy quality it shares with this piece, along with the vertical-climbing orientation of half of the stages, including the opening stage (which basically defines my impression of the game since i don't think i ever passed it when i was little...game was tough).

i'd like to critique your piece rather than just compare it to an old game you've never heard of but i don't really know what to say beyond what i like about it ='/ but two of the things i really like about this piece are the combination of organic and artificial, the grass and plants arranged in cubes and squared-off columns and platforms, and the fact that it works as well rightside up and upside down (i know that's called an ambigram when it describes a written word but i'm not sure it's applicable to a picture...?). also i like the bubbly quality of the plant's foliage/flowers.

        anyway, i dig it =')
