Last November, I took part in NaSoAlMo, a musical challenge similar to the more famous NaNoWriMo. Participants are given a month to write, record, and release an album, which must be at least 30 minutes long. While I didn’t actually release an album, I managed to write and record over 30 minutes of music in 30 days, so I consider it a qualified success. The album, which I gave the working title “Codename: FOXRUN”, was to be my attempt at the outrun/retro/synthwave genre, although not everything I ended up producing would necessarily fit this category. I also took this opportunity to advance my skills in sound design and in working with synthesizers. I used Synth1 exclusively for all the instruments, aside from the drums and cymbals, which were a combination of Synth1 and samples.
This Easter, I’ll be releasing “pre-album” of some of the finished instrumentals at pay-what-you-want pricing. A more proper album will come later.
This is one of the tracks that I started producing last November and finished this month.
