The greyscale color and details on this is so wonderful! It’s also rather cute with the little chickens there. :)

Thank you, I love doing traditional this way. Someone compared an earlier one of mine to the style of manga, which I thought was nice (and I'd sure love to get my hands on some traditional screentones someday).

I hardly ever find myself thinking of doing actual non-greyscale coloring, but I've been curious on how that'd end up anyway. The chickens were fun, as well as the henhouse itself. Well, everything really.

        You're most welcome! :D

Traditional screentones can be interesting, frustrating and fun to work with. laughs I haven't used any in a billion years (like since 2014-2015), so I don't think I have anything I did with screentones in my Weasyl gallery here. XD It does require a lot of patience and a steady hand to work with. A lightbox/light table would also be very helpful to have if you ever do get a chance to use screentones! :D

I kinda wonder if my mass of remaining screentones are actually good anymore............the sticky part may not even be all that sticky anymore on them. XD I would almost say you could look at a comic book convention for them, but I am not certain I saw any at the last one I went to in 2018. Kinokuniya Books used to sell them, years ago--and they have stores all across the U.S.--but I can't really think of places that may still sell them outside of Japan.......... @_@

Thanks for the tip, I've not even really looked far into what using screentones is like. I've wanted a lightbox of some sort for a while now (I've just been resorting to using a phone/tablet set to a white image on its brightest setting, which is not all that great for a few reasons).

I really recommend getting a lightbox or light table! I have used mine a lot…….sometimes when I have a scribble that looks really good on a scrap piece of paper, I’ll transfer that to better paper and clean it up. Years ago, I was too proud to use mine for more than screentoning, but I’ve found tons of use for my small lightbox in the last couple years. :D

I got a small one (it’s like 8x10?), the brand is Artograph—it’s nice and portable, just about the size of a hardcover sketchbook. I admit, I got it on sale at Hobby Lobby for $25……but HL and Michael’s Craft often have sales and coupons to help you get good deals on supplies like these. :)
