amber sketch

Amber is one of the Pokemon University characters of mine that I don't draw too often. She's Rosemary and Haru's best friend and she's "pretty average", in relation to everyone around her. She's pretty, though--and a generally nice person.

Pokemon belongs to Nintendo/GameFreak. OC belongs to me.

She looks nice! Also I liked how you colored this! What type of markers did you use?

      Thanks! :D

I used this "cheap brand of pro art markers" called AZURE. I found them at Wal-Mart and I've seen them at Target where I live. So, if you don't want to spend a lot of money and want to try an alcohol-based marker, this is a nice brand to start with. (I kinda save my Copics for fully-finished pieces. XD) Keep a separate paper of the colors, though, because not many look like the cap color! chuckle Most of the time I use these lesser-cost brands as my background coloring markers and save the Copics for primary character coloring. :)

Oddly enough, Crayola has tried getting into the pro art marker game and theirs are not horrible, either--they're a good cheaper starting alternative to pro art markers. These are the 3 "cheaper" (about half the price of Copic or Prismacolor) brands I've used and would recommend to start with:

Azure--has a fine tip and a chisel tip
Master's Touch (Hobby Lobby's house brand)--has a chisel tip and a brush tip
      Crayola--brush tip only

Hmm, might pick up a set. I'm surprised as well with crayola trying to tap in to the more professional products. 🤔

I'm gonna have to do a bit of research...

They're not bad--I think the bonus is that they're brush tips. Crayola surprised me with them--they actually come in a storage tin, as well. And they are fairly good brush tips as well! :)

Hobby Lobby's house brand of Master's Touch (they have Artist's Touch and Master's Touch, the former is a bit cheaper than the latter) is a good alternative to Copics if you can't afford to invest in those. They're about half the price and almost every single time I go in to buy markers, there's like a secret sale going on, I guess. I almost always wind up with half-off on the marker prices, not even taking coupons with me. XD Plus, the Master's Touch markers you can buy as singles (like Copics)--so there's no need to invest in a new pack if you only need to replace a single color. :)

If you wanted some fun markers to test out, for the heck of it--and have the EXTRA money to spend (they're pricey, but cool).........there's a pro type marker of a "blending" kind called "Chameleon", I've only seen them at Michael's Art and Hobby, but you can find them online--I give a test out and review on this upload: https://www.weasyl.com/~keirajo/submissions/1831413/new-marker-fun-morelull
