procreate practice: Jamie Fern by keirajo

One thing Procreate has going for it...........the really interesting effect brushes. I like how they handle a bit better than the brushes in CLIP.

Though I didn't use it here.......there's a galaxy (nebula) making brush. I could honestly sit around all day and make space portraits with that thing............except, I can't do stars the same way I do in CLIP. I NEED A WAY TO MERGE THE BEST OF THESE PROGRAMS TOGETHER, DARN IT. XD

Here's Jamie, an alien symbiotic entity (space vampire bunny) from my space opera series. :)

Jamie kinda reminds of this one anime my dad would binge watch. Can't remember the name though. He looks pretty cool!

    Anyway, The background is suprerb!

Thanks! I always qualify him as “vampire bunny”, since “alien symbiotic entity” is a mouthful. It’s a complex explanation, but vampire bunny is simple. XD

This was a space-fantasy series I loved doing years ago and I still love the characters, so I keep drawing them even though their stories are long since finished. :)

I love finding ways to use patterns and brushes to make some sort of background, so it’s not a boring freestanding character on a page, :)

        You're welcome!

You ever thought of doing something like a sequel story with your ocs or was that a one-time run? Also how did you go about structuring the story?

Also, I migh try experiminting around with doing backgrounds on future paintings. Maybe utilise the perspective lessons I learned back in 10th grade.

I left it open enough for a sequel—but I’d have to figure out a workable plot. XD

It was basically a Star Trek-ish kind of space fantasy story……Jamie was the “new guy” on the ship—as he learned about his fellow crew and the adventures, he ran into an incident that had him sent back to his home world to recover. The ending was that he promised to rejoin the crew someday, when he’d gotten past the trauma.

That’s something I definitely need to do myself—keep working on backgrounds…and stop reusing my standard “trees and bushes” background when I draw one! XD
