      Since you ask, it's more about gaining trust of the population to let him do his thing, and publicity is a form of transparency. Talk show appearances aren't uncommon, but also being seen doing every day things has an effect as well. He's stubbornly regular when in public for selfish reasons as well (a cup of coffee on a cold day is like the best thing ever) but he likes conversing with strangers when they come to him.
