Little is known about the Knife of Night. Tales of its origin and exploits are so old that you could hear a hundred stories and receive a thousand different answers as to where it came from, who used it, or to what ends. It has been used in so many ways for so long that divining any truth between them is impossible. It is a fragment of the beating heart of the world. It is the tooth of a divine being. It was crafted by dark sorcerors to destroy the world. Those who wield it find their blood spilled when they use it to injure another. It drinks the blood of those it cuts, turning the wielder into the things they fight. It is a cautionary tale about getting what you want, or a fable about accepting help from strangers.

There are only three things upon which anyone can agree: It is ancient. It is angry. And it is hungry. Those touched by its edge soon find it draws more than blood, and those wielding it are seldom the kind that know when to stop.
