The Galaxy Phoenix by Amber-Aria

The Galaxy Phoenix

It seems that getting my commissions done has definitely given me a boost in creativity!

For anyone who is familiar with Toriko, many of the powerful bishokuya in the show have and utilize an "intimidation", a spiritual projection of their predatory aura.

I've been brainstorming with Erolunai for a while, and the two of us have been developing some personas for the Toriko universe, just as a fun thing~ For a long time now though, we'd been stumped on the sort of intimidation that his bishokuya would have, because everything that I would come up with didn't quite feel right to his character. But last night, something clicked, and I think we've got it~

We decided on a creature called a "Galaxy Phoenix" to represent his intimidation. A massive creature that holds the utmost respect for the life energy that comes from food, carrying a sort of miniature "galaxy" within themselves, with entities like burning stars and frigid black holes driving its body for an immensely long time, absorbing nutrients and energy. A massive and terrifying being. I feel it works quite well, especially since the theme for his bishokuya's attacks are a combination of hot and cold techniques, which suit the star and void elements of the Galaxy Phoenix~

It was just a fun speedpainting exercise as well~ I don't think any of these pictures took me longer than forty minutes or so? Gotta love my cloudy textured brush in SAI. ♥

Oooooooo, very neat creature. Sounds like it would make a very good predatory aura.

Thank you! I'm glad you think so~ I've tried a couple other creatures with Ero's bishokuya that made decent intimidations, but they just didn't feel quite right. The last one I did looked a lot like Ganon from Ocarina of Time. x3

Geez this is awesome! Hahahah I love 'Tokiro'. It's so fun and goofy, but has so many great ideas going on =D I think the only downside of the show is (at least for me and some friends here), is a lot of the time the show makes us hungry thanks to all the fantastic foods they show or will go into great detail in describing what the textures and tastes are like XD

Augh, I knoooooow~ That's why it's a good idea to make a nice dinner or some sort of good snack right before you sit down to watch. xD It's certainly encouraged me to start cooking more complicated dinners, in order to sate my cravings for whatever shows up in the anime!

I'm recently trying to bring "random ideas in my head" into the form of a universe proper... so I always find creative endeavors like these awesome :)
