      That's exactly what I thought of -- Kings Quest, specifically! Critically, I do think the log blends in a bit too much :)

    I looove yr pixel work beb, one tip for separating objects in a bg that's helped me is to make sure that an entire object's hue is different from the objects around it, I hope it helps you too!

    I see what you may be frustrated about with the "separating objects" however, as other people before me observed, the flow is such that it can separate the objects when observing it intently, which is exactly what the vibrancy and implied lines of the image do. It really sucks you in to the illusion of a forest.

    Really nice color choices, looks just like an old point-and-click adventure game. Took me a moment to perceive the log in the middle, was just seeing it as a brighter spot on the path at first. A bit more differentiation of color along the top edge of the log would probably help, but otherwise this is real nice!
