Sometimes, it's fun to revisit an old favorite song and expand upon it to take it in a new direction. That's what I've done with my old original song, "The Phoenix," which originally appeared on my 2007 album, Shadows. It was merely a short drone flute solo before, but I've revamped it into a multi-instrumental piece featuring two Native American flutes, my xaphoon (a.k.a. "pocket sax"), VibeDrum, and maraca. It's my longest song to date at over seven minutes in length, and like a phoenix, the melody dies and is reborn throughout the song. It also serves as a theme song for my phoenix character, Faestus.
