Life is an unfoldment, and the further we travel the more truth we can comprehend. To understand the things that are at our door is the best preparation for understanding those that lie beyond.
-Hypatia of Alexandria, circa AD 350-415
We have stood here once before, beneath the rising pyrite sun. Idled once we looked upon the light with awe but faltered we and failed ‘til darkness claimed our hearts for eons nigh. Yet hope remained, intrepid minds seeking through for light's salvation. Where ever the fool may not go, we stand here anew older and perchance wiser. The light is bold and cracks are worn in coats of moss. And we recall what once was lost, with weeping grace we brave her clandestine gaze to behold the starlight and beyond.
A larger personal painting whose idea was seeded by a startling and random inspiration. Vantid shared with me pictures of pyrite discs and I am not sure why in particular my fancy was so smitten by them but I decided to follow and see what story it would tell. It is interesting to tell that not all concepts start with a story as such, but as you create, the story seems to unravel before you. I think it is more exciting that way.
This painting was also a bit of a personal challenge in that I did not use any textures to help detail the rock surface. I guess I just wanted to see if I could do it and how long it would take. Well it took long enough but I am happy with the result!

So now to this really brilliant picture here. I just love the way you did it and I also think that pyrite is a very interesting and just damn beautiful mineral. This picture is really meeting the beauty of it. Your pyrite sun in the background together with the wonderful lighteffects really give the picture a special look and feeling. The pyrite and the light around it are working as a impressive halo of the leopard and together witht he really nice and colorful lines and symbols on the rocks, which look bloody brilliant too, it gives the leopard some kind of godlike and very powerful appearance.
This is another damn wonderful piece of yours and I just love the whole composition and atmosphere of it. Well done again^^
