legitimate question: am i allowed to openly shit-talk the merger decision here because i love causing trouble
its just been a bunch of bad decisions honestly. the only reason i still post anything on fa is because of commissions.
One huge problem is that no one knows if it's a bad decision because they don't tell anyone anything about it.
Also, this happened in January. It's now March. They wanted to keep things more transparent, why did they wait 2 months to announce this?
I think the only thing that we CAN'T do here is 'call-outs' shit talking the merger itself should be fine o: Besides, i'd love to hear what you have to say about it, as i've been laughing my ass off since i heard about it XD;
basically, this:
it doesn't make sense, the world doesn't work in this idealized manner. there's no way that IMVU, which is a considerably small community, would want to "help out" furaffinity for no reason. they have to be getting something out of it and if you guys would just reveal what the catch was to the contract, a lot of this speculation and fear would subside. there's always two sides of the coin and expecting anybody to believe IMVU just wants to help the furry community is bullshit. they're a company, and every decision a company makes is calculated to make money because we exist in a system that is centered around monetary gain.
however, i hope everyone remembers that furaffinity is also a business. they take ad revenue, they take "donations" and they make sales. don't donate to a company for nothing. do NOT give a company money for nothing. everyone who donated really should've been given stock in the company. even a half of a percent or something, anything that a NORMAL company would do.
is furaffinity a nonprofit? how did you claim 10k in donations on your taxes? is furaffinity incorporated through ferrox art llc? is imvu going to be claiming FA on their taxes???
No, it doesn't make sense. None of it does. There's some Really shady shit going on right now (What else do we expect coming from Dragoneer though?). I understand the two month wait before announcing the acquisition to finalize all the legalese, but like you said, shit doesn't make sense. Why is IMVU even interested in buying FA in the first place? And how can anyone be expected to believe that they won't be wanting anything in return outside of a 'possible' boost to their dying/dead Secondlife clone?
I don't see this deal going as cleanly as Dragoneer claims it will, with IMVU just sitting on the side lines throwing money at him to keep the site up. (I honestly have a hard time believing even He believes that it will)
All the questions you raised at the end of your comment too are good ones that NEED answering. Near as I can tell, Ferrox LLC is no longer, since it was what originally owned FA. Now that IMVU does, it's no longer necessary to have around. Even says FA in the initial post.
We are proud to announce Fur Affinity has joined the IMVU family. Fur Affinity (formerly a part of Ferrox Art LLC) was acquired by IMVU earlier this year in January 2015
And I can only assume that means that Ferrox LLC is no longer affiliated/necessary to FA, and probably no longer exists.
The rest of the questions though, only Dragoneer can answer, and lord knows he won't without someone/everyone pulling teeth. :|

Just found this. All i see is more bullshit to be perfectly honest. :| I doubt this is the end of it, and I doubt they'll keep their word, especially given their business practices in the past and present.
Nothing that I know first hand of course, just what i've been reading in comments here and there. They just seem to be money grubbing like any company these days. And to have a company that's in it for profit, rather than actually caring about the people using their service's needs does not bode well for FA.
Honestly, i shouldn't have said anything about it since I really don't have much of a clue >w<;
As to what Hedoro said down below, i completely agree.... The thought of Dragoneer getting canned makes my mouth water XD Him and pretty much the entirety of his 'staff' should be replaced imho. They're obviously not ALL horrible assholes, but most of them have been.
Every time something like this happens I hope it's the one thing, the final straw that breaks the camel's back, that will kill FA ded and push everyone to Weasyl lol
I don't have high hopes and I'm waiting for the other foot to come down, but for now I'm just gonna pretend everything's okay and look forward to these (probably nonexistent) improvements to be mad.
Also inb4 the 13-year-old scene kids take over FA lol
until the site itself goes down, people will still use it. i think some folks like complaining, and other folks (like me) can't deal with the crushing blow to clientele.
People can use it all they want! I just want them to give other sites a chance too. And I never believe all the "I don't have time to check another site" bullshit because I seriously doubt FA is the only page these people visit in their entire internet browsing history >_>
Also yeah, same thing :/ I tried to leave over the rape/zoophilia thing, and when I came back to get my commissioners back, I basically got told that I need to cater to my fans and that it wasn't fair of me to leave because this asshat follows thousands of people and somehow that's my fault???? lol it was funny cuz he watches so many people that he couldn't keep track of who was who because he didn't know I was trans when I definitely make a big deal out of it XD But that's a whole other thing lol
Same, I'm ready for FA to be done, it feels incredibly archaic as it is. I've never been able to get into FA, but might be able to actually build some base to get work from if people weren't so exclusive to FA and were on Weasyl more :/
The discussion concerns information freely released to the public. Fully sure you are allowed to criticize public business decisions. As long as it isn't personally bashing an individual or encouraging harassment. So have at it.
I have mixed feelings thus far. I don't agree with most decisions concerning FA. I think it has terrible public relations and is a site that has gone nowhere fast. I don't know what the owenership change means for FA. they are so vague on the matter.
I will continue doing what I've been doing. Creating redundancies on other art sites for business and selling art. I do have a bias towards Weasyl in all honesty. It's my favorite so far. I've worked as a moderator for them in the past and seeing how things are ran behind the scenes as well as upfront I have good faith in them.
Tbh I'm somewhat glad about the choice to do this because it makes Dragoneer an employee rather than an owner, he could get fired for being the shitty admin that he is, and the mere concept of that is delicious to me.
yes you beautiful human being haha
naw this is just...rediculous haha
itll be bitter sweet seeing rushed activity on here again
yea! naw i guess i just more hate too see so many that try and rush upload on here when things get bad, only to never upload again afterwards (๑•́ ω •̀๑)
Its nice to see people here and totally awesome if they can manage multiple sites (i know that can be hard...i think youre a good example if someone who does pretty well with it though!) totally understandable that people prefer to stick to where the customer base is. If youre an artist trying to make a profit that sadly is the only thing you can do.
Oh god, I actually gave Dragoneer a compliment because I thought with the recent fixes and stuff he was actually getting serious about fixing everything. He assured me in a reply that this was his project, that he hoped I could continue to appreciate it because "good things are coming and I'm finally making this my dedicated life's work."
Then I saw this and what little respect I had grown back instantly caved in as I roared into a loud laughing fit shouting, "HOLY SHIT SNACKS PRINCESS PICHE SOLD OUT!"
yeah its just gonna take time to move people's markets away from the trash site. im really hoping people will find other places a little more safer for their content to be, instead of underneath an unreliable responsible party like FA, regardless of whatever shit is going down behind or in front of the scenes. business dealing with sites happens, but announcing it after and without a forewarning is low.
but im surprised I'm privy to it except that FA was the place to be furry on the internet for so long.

I guess so :P Anyway, this is the reason why I am currently re-watching everyone from my FA watchlist. When they hired Zaush I didn't think much of it, but this time I'm not so sure...
