Heyyy guys! Here is everything you probably need to know about me:
I am a person! I live and exist and contain atoms and occasionally fart.
I'm in my 30s but have the sense of humor of a 7 year old and the BS tolerance of a 70 year old.
I make a lot of things and I love making things, and sometimes we call it ART and that's all okay by me. I'm super excited to make most of it and I'm even more excited to know that people might like to look at it sometimes.
I LOVE EVERY BIRD. I really love birds.
I am completely obsessed with chickens and I will not shut up about them if you get me talking about them. Be careful. I warned you. This is your warning.
I am actually quite shy but do my best to be friendly. I am pretty laid back about things and think most people are pretty darn cool as long as they are not jerks. :)
Now then, stealing Likeshine's idea... if you have any specific questions you are curious about I'd be happy to answer. :)
I love so many of them!! There are many beautiful breeds out there and Belgian D'Anvers and Sumatras are super beautiful... but of all the breeds I've owned, I love the personalities of the cochins best, I think.
Oh wow, those Belgian and Sumatran breeds really are pretty! I admit I know very little about chickens so seeing how varied all the different types are is actually pretty wild! Are the phenotypes bred just for looks or are there any sort of practical traits that breeders look for? like the difference between toy/show dog breeds and working dog breeds?
The answer to your question is: YES!
Or, really, both. Chickens are bred both for looks and for utility. Like many dog breeds, lately the trend has been to take them mostly into good appearances, and some breeders have sacrificed utility, but that's a complex discussion.
Overall, chickens have been bred for purpose and appearance, yes. Some of the obvious purposes are things such as: 1. Laying good eggs frequently 2. Growing into a meaty bird for food. However, historically, chickens have also had to do things like be good mothers (good broody hens), deal with the ability to forage well in different environments, etc. And, sadly, a few breeds have been refined for fighting. Some have been bred for good temperament, though.
Just like with dogs, there are a plethora of goals that breeders have.
How did you get into chickens and raising them? Always so curious to hear how people went about it as I hopefully will get some someday. I find them to be curious birds.
haha that was a great description X3
When did you first start drawing? When did you discover you love birds so much? :3
If bird is the word, and everyone was talking about the bird, which word would describe the said bird, and why would everyone be talking about it? - hope this question isn't too personal.
Bird is a word, one out of approximately 170,000 words currently in use in the English language as counted in commonly published dictionaries.
The and Word are also both words.
Therefore if Bird is The Word, as in The Spoken Word, I would suggest that I could not possibly fit all of those words into a single comment and you will have to take MY word for it that the bird is in fact every word because I LOVE EVERY BIRD
Oh my, chickens. spent the past week at my brother, and his eldest has two. didn't remember until sitting on the patio, a pair of GIANT BIRDS walk up on either side of my chair and give me the eye (and then peck at the ground around my ceck chair. THEY WERE HUGE I TELL YOU!!!, Big enough that the dogs and cats in the household gave them a wide berth. They would then stately pace to the Deck, and star in the sliding glass door at the humans.. (They were so soft to touch!). Chickens I tell you! Big Surprise!!!
