My FA opinion by Donro
seen a truckload of FA sux journals in the past few days since rapegate happened; and just stop it.. you will not stick around here for more than a few weeks before trotting back to FA.
It's happened 3 times; the reason none of these smaller sites take off is EXACTLY this reason.. tumblr, weasyl even pedobunny run better than FA yet people still cling and cry and whine about FA.. why?
Just either use FA and be hypocritical or cut it off and take a hit of not having 30 views per pic and having 15 till it picks up.. Honestly popufurs complain its dead here yet NONE make the effort to post here even a buddy of mine left to come here because of how much they liked it but where given an ultimatum to still use FA..
Honestly what do furries want we have numerous other options that are superior to FA and yet we all run to FA scream how it sucks but by using it we show the owner that even if they forcefeed you rapists, poop and dogfuckers you will all buy it.
Either sign up and post and work from here or just go back to FA.. I'd prefer you to use weasyl as the people who run/made it do a DAMN good job as the DDoS was handled in HOURS not DAYS..

The main draw of FA is the traffic/commissioners
I put up comms on here and tumblr and barely get a bite but on FA they went in minutes ;w; these people are basically selecting not to use one site for one unknown reason.. its the same artists and prices but you're more likely to snag a piece if you catch them here
You mutlipost like I do with other sites but most people see this as a massive hassle; the immense strain of reposting to another site kills them :(

Eh... yeah. This said I'm rather content that most of my main commissioners now have a presence here. Heck, I actually found myself asked a birthday commission from someone who saw my stream advert not on FA but on Weasyl's frontpage. It was kind of nice.
But yeah, currently the main draw of FA is indeed traffic. But in the long run, I'm starting to wonder about commissioners. I have, like, one thousand watchers on FA but barely around 50 here. Yet, pretty much all of my commissioners(and that is, people that have been willing to shelve money toward my art) are people who have an account here and are active about it.

I have 140ish watchers here about 200 on tumblr and had 300ish on FA and always got the comms there.
I'm not so much fussed about the comms personally as I barely do them unless I myself want to make a few quick bucks to buy art haha; but if more people shift over and that gets going weasyl will take off HOPEFULLY

I'm still on the rope if I'm going to leave FA or not. Its not a huge deal since my account there is pretty new so I only have 50 or so followers and about half or more of those follow me here or on DA but still I'm asking people there if they can at least clarify what's all going on. I got a basic summary but there's a lot of details missing and I like knowing what's up before deciding its worthy of jumping ship.

The easiest way to say it without throwing names about is, owner hires someone who makes EVERYONE uncomfortable and is a known creeper/sexualpred/rapist and that person is remodeling the site and given mod powers.
Everyone is disgusted by the owner being a rape apologist and banning anyone who says so; its the cut and paste "help I have no idea what im doing" FA owner debaucle

Yeah, embriel explained that well too D: but yeah that sounds really fucking sketchy. As I told embriel above I may very well try to get everyone on weasyl then. I would rather not be part of said site.

The big thing is, creeper/rapist now has the ability to see every site members private notes/info and thats a massive breach of trust

I can provide a bit more detailed summary of the recent drama,
Zaush is a popufur artist type, he recently got hired on as the head coder for the site's newest endeavor Project Phoenix.
Now this would be all fine and dandy but Zaush doesn't have the best reputation, he is a widely accused rapist/sexual predator.
A few female artists have stepped forward and made their statements publicly.
So instead of handling any situation with transparency (like acknowledging these accusations and handling them professionally) OR better yet not hiring someone their members show so much distaste for they have been hiding the comments and even journals and suspending anyone who speaks out against Zaush being put in a position of power.
One victim reported to Dragoneer (owner of FA) that Zaush had coerced her into having sex with him. So Dragoneer wasn't ignorant of these accusations.
I know that Dragoneer and Zaush are buddies as well so it just makes this all more deplorable.check out some furaffinity drama blogs for more info on all of this! :D

Ah, thank you and donro for the info. Yeah that sounds really sketchy as old hell :/ I may very well run away given that. Luckily most of the people I watch there are found here as well (and/or at DA). I just hope said people stick to using this site instead of going back and letting their weasyl get cobwebs.

I wish it where that simple but furry herd mentality means people will run here for a week because its the in thing; then after 2 weeks trudge back and forget it ever happened till the next drama fest :(

FA has been established too long is the problem, it went so long without competition its sort of like what google is to search engines, it needs to properly and utterly collapse before everyone will move. I know I said I was moving here and went back to FA but at the end of the day I'm selling things and there's no market here, its like opening a shop in the middle of nowhere, no profit to be made cus everyone goes to the big city to do their shopping o3o

Naw the problem is dragoneer and always will be; he bought it and changed overnight.. he used to be THIN as well funnily enough
He installed his own cult of personality; added dogfuckers and family members to the staff and allowed peoples own personal agendas to take over like pinkuh who banned anyone and everyone at least once for no actual reason.
Now he's put the most popular site member in charge of chaging the site; a guy who uploads what maybe 2 pictures every other month who admitted himself he has no idea how to code. The guy who is pretty much hated by the vast majority of the userbase because hes a sexual predator and creeper / possible rapist will now have the ability to look at your personal info on site.
Dragoneers response? Some mysoginst comments and ignorance before he'll pull the plug on project pheonix and ban zaush in an attempt to win back favour

Personally I used both websites. Sure, I have more visibility on Furaffinity.
But Weasyl leave me able to post images at full resolution without requiring a work around. So what I do is pretty simple.
I post a resized version on FA, then a fullres version on Weasyl(that I couldn't post on FA due to size limites).
And to the desc of the one on FA I add but a very simple line: "For the full resolution version of this image, please follow the link".
Right now most of my core commissioners are now people who are very actives on Weasyl and that since before the recent drama. I don't know if my way of doing things had anything to do for it but right now I'm content. Since it means FA could go down and I'd probably see little impact on my income.
