Random updates. 9-14-21. by keirajo

I’m still alive in this world, but super-busy. I recently had a lot of changes in my life and one was upgrading my technology (phone and all) and I got an iPad. I’m actually attempting working on that right now to get used to how it works. The keyboard and number pad thing is a bit weird. XD

The odd thing was when a message popped up saying my password for this site showed up in a data leak and that’s kind of a scary thing. Though, I suppose all things considered, it was about time I changed it and started writing down passwords in a notebook for my own personal benefit. I’m going to blame FurAffinity for this one, since I was using the same password for both. I’m sure Weasyl would’ve notified us of a data leak. XD

I wonder if an old timer like me is ready for the scariness and new technology in this world? I’ll try my best to adjust. :)

How is everyone doing lately? Are you managing to survive the extremely hot summer we’ve mostly been having across the U.S. and the world this year? Doing anything fun and interesting lately? Me, just the same old stuff, mostly with my job and getting through life….. chuckle

Been doing good myself lately, been taking breaks in between with drawing every once an a while (that way i wont feel burnt out from drawing too much :D) and may have to fix my elgato software on my pc its been glitchy and spazzy every time i record (luckly today it only did so a tad at the end it was easily fixed by me re recording it :P) hopefully i'll find the solution to the issue :D

Glad it was such an easy fix! :D

It’s nice to have such a relaxing time. :)

I've been doing nothing but playing Tales of Arise xD

You’re still doing something productive—now me, it’d take a year to get through an RPG! XD

oh no, hope you're safe from hackers <:o i note down my passwords on a book too which i hide incase any visitors get hold of it
it's never too late to enjoy modern things ^w^ while it is nice to look back and appreciate the old things you loved when you were younger, sometimes you can't always live in the past. but don't worry! while it may take time to get use to new things, i'm sure you'll get the hang of it ^w^ like i was new to phones and tablets cos i wasn't allowed a mobile phone until i was like 18 (stupid rules, i know.) even though we did use to have cheap/fake tablets, it still took time to get use to things like the settings 'n' all sorts but i got to know some of it. while phones and tablets are nice and handy, i think i'll always prefer computers since i grew up with them and i find they're easier to use, i especially find typing with a keyboard is alot easier than the on screen ones. though what's interesting about both is that the computer can do some things the phone can't, and vice versa. which is why it can be handy to have both sometimes :3

it's actually autumn where i am plus i actually like the summer. summer ain't that bad to me, it's winter i hate. i'm actually gonna miss the nice warm weather summer had, i did my best to enjoy it while i can. besides hot weather just means more beach days, ice cream, slushies, ice pops, and ice cream floats ^w^ plus fairgrounds! :D though sadly i didn't go to any this summer cos with covid being around, there's not gonna be so many :< though sometimes there is funfairs during other times besides summer, i hope i'll be able to go to any this year!

I grew up in a time without all this technology--so, little flubs like this always make me anxious. But the modern internet makes it easy for hackers, I think. Any hacker determined can break your passwords or cause data leaks to get passwords, no matter how many capital letters, symbols and numbers you've got. I don't think any one password is strong or weak to the determined hackers on the internet. The thing that worries me is, the word I used in my password was made up from an old science fiction story I wrote, so it's a word that doesn't exist, technically, in any language. I feel that the more convenient technology becomes for everyone, the easier it'll be to lose yourselves or your identity.

Ha-ha, sometimes it makes me want to just unplug from the internet all together. But even if I don't know what is happening, it doesn't mean someone isn't stealing my sites, passwords or identity. wry laugh

Our weather has started in towards fall/autumn--the days are warm and the nights are cooler. I had to put a heavier blanket on my bed, because I don't want to close my windows yet--I want to have fresh are circulating through my apartment as long as I can. :)

hmmm it might be a good idea to also try 2fa on some sites that have that feature, it's kinda like an extra layer of security. oh and don't forget to have plenty security/antivirus software on your computers and phones. always better to be safe than sorry! i recommend avast, malwarebytes, bullguard, ccleaner, firewall, vpn, and some adblockers and popup blockers just to be safe :3

i know they say having multiple antiviruses is a "bad idea" as they can get in the way and block each other but honestly i think the more security, the better. besides you can always allow the other securities in when it gets blocked by one of them, plus some of the security software has a whitelist so you can easily whitelist them too ^w^
yeah things are still gonna happen even if you leave the internet.. ^-^; one of the biggest downsides to that is that if you do leave the internet then you're also leaving your online friends behind.. :<

i've started making more hot chocolate and omigosh i'm instantly in love with the hot chocolate orange X3 i don't like having water in my hot chocolate tho, makes it taste too watery.. i just put hot milk in instead, still works but tastes waaayyyy better

        • Link

I've got a paid McAfee subscription, so I believe in security. I can probably put it on multiple devices, too. I just would have to get up the guts to go and look at that. XD

I usually make my hot chocolate with milk, too. With water is fine in a pinch, but.....it's always better with milk. :)

          • Link

that's really good you got some security :3 i paid for malwarebytes since they can find stuff my other antiviruses can't, plus i like to use their scan scheduling features so i can keep my computer in good shape
i use other scan schedules on other antiviruses too ofcourse, like with avast :3

yeah milk hot chocolate is always best UwU don't really like the watery kind

            • Link

We have Malwarebytes at work. :)

Yeah, water should only be used if you’re desperate! ;)

              • Link

                that's good!
i only drink water on its own with no food whatsoever. somehow i don't like having water with food because it makes the food taste all soggy but not only that, after eating something that's nice and full of flavour, you're putting something in your mouth that's completely bland right after and i don't really like that.. >.<
i always have juice or soda with food, but if it's something sweet like chocolate, cake and doughnuts, i have a milk or a hot choccy, sometimes even chocolate milk :3 with water, i prefer to have it on its own cos it just feels better that way cos you're not really tasting anything anyway, you're just giving yourself hydration UwU

Yeah, I have a Brita filter water bottle that I use at work--I drink water all day. But when I eat, I do have something with some flavor--from milk to juice or soda. :)

I was just thinking about you! Glad you're still alive.
I agree, technology is actually really scary. I got a google notification that "someone else knows your password! Please change it!" And thought it was a scam... Except that it locked everything I use my google login for, like YouTube. :p

    • Link

Yeah, I have so many letters to get to, but this summer just about killed me at work without the part-timers. And I’ve been in recovery since that! XD

There was a time when I was far happier without technology, but unfortunately you can’t survive in today’s world without it. It always worries me when I get notifications like that….it’d probably freak me out more if it locked up things like it did for you! @_@

oh!! I hope you're safe from hackers!! honestly yeah furaffinity's security is so bad, i think i should probably make sure none of my passwords are the same as my FA one

Also!! It's been an interesting week but I'm doing good now! My cat was in the vet for a few days, but she's doing really well now!! We've got a followup coming, I think she just needs dentalwork

    • Link

I hope so, too..........but if someone wants my identity, they'd better be prepared to come and live my life and work at my job, you know? XD Given how often FA breaks down, I should probably be surprised if things like this never happened sooner.

Awwww.....I'm glad your kitty's okay! I wish we could teach animals how great it is to brush your teeth every day--my sister's cat is experiencing some dental issues right now, too.

      • Link

lmao I know right? If you're going to steal my identity, you can at least help pay the bills right? xD but yeah iirc FA has had a bunch of security leaks in the past so ive heard its just better to have a different password for it specifically/change all other passwords that are shared/etc

and same!! i was super scared for her, but i'm glad it was a dental issue that's treatable rather than something worse. we need to teach cats how to floss!

        • Link

I’m sure they’d probably suck at my job, but still—you wanna be me, ya gotta live my life! XD

I know they have dental treats, but it still would be nice if we could teach pets to brush and floss for sure! :)
