Haven't posted as much here, I've just been so busy and I have a lot of stuff on DA, lol. I'm trying to be more active on here. Also is it me or are there a LOT more users on this site? Idk, I've just seen a lot of new people.

Generally alright. Arm is ouchy, but got a dumpster to trash my whole house. :D Man, throwing out the giant stuff you can't normally is so relieaving.

Oh, also I think there's a few reasons this site's been more active. February I posted an Ad on FA to bring folks to weasyl, then DA early this month let people use their Site REdesign and people hate it enough they are looking around for other sites. I've been advertising this place like mad, and DA's been being a butt nugget to help out.

Yeah, those could definitely bring a good amount of people over to here. The DA drama is crazy, and everyone's mad about the whole eclipse thingy. So yep.

Hello! Remembered I had an account here about two weeks ago, decided to pick up where I left off back in 2014. Still getting the hang of using this site (I'm a DeviantArt main so some of it takes a bit of getting used to) and looking for more artists to watch and stuff to fave.
It's been a good experience so far, going back to older art I haven't looked at in years, rediscovering ideas I forgot about and seeing that sweet sweet improvement.This site reminds me of that Christmas tree from Charlie Brown...

*Begins dumping dozens of pictures onto the site *This site's cool, I should have stuck around. A bit quiet, but I like that I could post an re-introductions journal and have someone take the time to welcome me and offer helpful pointers, and that peeps will just post random "hi how are ya" journals. Great community atmosphere. Might try something like this soon myself, see who bites.

Ah, there seems to be a lot of old accounts. It makes me sad when no one comes back and they are forgotten and/or abandoned. I always get excited when there are older users still around to show off their skills!I'm pretty comfortable with this site because this is what I started on, and I'm hoping to carry on for several more years. I'm not sure how it's gotten more popularity though. A small guess is with Uluri's FA ad. It can be quiet, yes. Although I'd rather have it quiet and organized than crazy and chaotic like DA.
And I think funny avatars can bring in some ppl, lol.

Oh, you started here? I think you're the first person I've met whose internet art "career" started on Weasyl. Neat.
Seems like this site gets a spike in activity every time FA or DA drop the ball and some drama goes down. It's kinda sad tho, because like you said, there are a LOT of abandoned accounts around. And it seems, like I did, they all sorta fell out of use by the middle or end of 2014. Had I not been dealing with some major life stuff, and the site been a bit more active, I would have never left tbh.
I've managed to talk a couple of the DA friends into starting accounts here and trying it out, we'll see how well that works out. One of them does some pretty sweet paintings, horror movie monster sort of stuff that I think will really stand out here.

yeah, most people start with the bigger sites. I started here because I thought it'd be easier to socialize with other furries, make more friends, etc. I heard about this place from a Pocari Roo video, and it was a small site and the layout looked a lot better to me than FA or DA. At least more simple to understand.
And yeah, unfortunately so. It kinda blew up once the whole tumblr and NSFW thing went down. I also get worried drama from other sites will carry on to over here.
Ooh, that sounds cool. I like a lot of art that stands out. Unique styles, techniques, and other stuff like that always catch my eye.
Not many of my friends are interested because not many are furries.

Makes sense! I came over here in 2014 because it was new and picking up traction (or at least that's how it looked at the time) and I wanted to try using two sites. On the one hand, it's kinda sad this never took off or got very big, but on the other hand, it being smaller and quieter means less trolls and "low quality" stuff going on. I also like the simplicity but it feels a bit limiting sometimes.
Oh, I forgot all about the Tumblr thing! I never used that site, it just wasn't what I was looking for and I'm not big into fandom or NSFW content, but I feel bad for those artists affected by that. That seems to be why Weasyl got a bit of traction in 2014, too, drama over on FA. And now in 2019 with DA and Eclipse. I hope this site does manage to find some identity beyond "that place we go when the other sites piss us off".
Or, they could totally rock that identity and give Wesley a punk outfit and a mohawk an FIGHT THE POWER!
But I think I prefer how classy this site and its atmosphere is.I guess this just sorta became a "furry site" because of timing? Just because the mascot's a weasel doesn't mean it's just for animal art. One thing I'd love to see is a bit more variety of genres and subject matter--let's get some photography or something up in here! I love browsing animal photos when I'm in a bad mood.

Hi! Things seem to be alot better than before! Also finally sticking to being an earlybird and less anxiety yay! I think it's cos of the medication I'm now on. Also been pretty bored but apart from that, working on a cover for my future comic! :D I guess there is hope for 2019 after all ^w^ Also how about you? You been doing okay? :3
