Disappointed af. :\ [UPDATE @ TOP] by Teskine

Real talk, I'm just gonna do whatever I want and say what I want and if any SJW types get their panties in a bunch over it I'll insta-block them.

I really just wanted to make it clear this IS an issue for some people when they apparently stumble into such people who exist in the community. Please speak out or ignore people who do stuff like this and let them know it's not okay. Hate isn't the way to make a positive change.

I'll be around, but really I'm gonna have Weasyl as a lower priority due to being a little offput by my experience so far. Hopefully that will improve and I will feel more welcome here in due time.

So.

I've been back for like a week and I already hate the community here and want no real part in it.

It's no wonder it's so quiet and inactive and people can't get behind Weasyl.
Too many of the established community are rabid SJWs. Newcomers or people who aren't SJWs have to try to police themselves ahead of time, but we're all still gonna damn well offend you cause it takes waaaaaaay too much effort to be up-to-date on what the current issues and trends are in the SJW community.

I once had such high hopes for this site, I donated to help out because I truly had hope this site would be the next main hub. I wanted to believe the rumors I've heard for a while weren't true, but they are. They're extremely true.

Stop saying you want Weasyl to flourish if it entails you policing people to the point they're afraid to express themselves.I have already had my experiences and opinions devalued because they're not the same as others' and called other dumb things. Some people here are just way too caught up in their hate to love others for who and what they are even if they're different (yet of course desiring acceptance because they're different, how ironic.)

I am afraid to speak to strangers here. I am terrified. This is not a welcoming community for myself and many others thus far.

Watch. I have to police myself now by saying that I of course am aware this is likely a small minority of people who use the site who are being an issue, not everyone, and odds are you're not one of the people I'm upset with. I'm just very disappointed to see that this is what has become of Weasyl. It's a great platform, but when you're scrutinized for basically breathing, it's not even worth it.

I'm just going to quietly update here and have my professional face on and stop trying to engage people except on my page. Anyone who tries to SJW down my throat tbh I'll just block from now on because I don't have time to deal with such trifle matters and accusations. I know some people were happy to see I'd be putting effort forth into Weasyl again, but jeez. This place is scary.

Sorry.

If a social justice warrior is bugging you, block them. Simple.

    • Link

I typically try diplomacy as my first attempt, but I'm enforcing a strict insta-block policy henceforth. :'D Which is awful, but whatever. Not a great way to make friends!

      • Link

This is no longer a matter of making friends, if SJWs are causing you undue harm.

  • Link

That's kind of a surprising insight, wouldn't think that their would be a major SJW basing.

  • Link

I've never noticed it here, but i don't really engage myself outright, i let people come to me usually ^^;; I'm sorry you gotta deal with turds like that, that's not cool

I have been here for ages and haven't encountered that once yet. Could just be a matter of wrong place, wrong time and/or dumb people.

    • Link

Yeaaaah definitely was just going through some wrong channels of socialization.

      • Link

Ahh. The wrong crowd can definitely paint a more bleak picture than is reality. I hope you get some good experiences too here to help counter it.

Personally links to what happened would be great or at least a description that isn't too dependent on labels.
I mean I've been accused before of being a SJW and a racist misogynist so at this point I'm like "please just show me what happened". I imagine you appreciate the same courtesy of people not just assuming you're an asshole based on a negative label attributed to you when that label can mean so many different things to different people. When I can be called a misogynist just for being a guy and a SJW just for being transgender I start to get that sense these terms are actually a detriment to knowing what happened rather than an effective summation of events/people I wasn't there to see in action.

    I hope this doesn't come off as a dick move ;-;

Honestly it's not worth my time to document people like that, I just blocked them and moved on with my life at this point. I do assure you, however, that it was along the lines of legitimate SJW behavior, and nothing to do with their orientation/gender (in fact I don't know the information of these people.) That behavior where no matter what someone says, no matter what supporting evidence you bring, they're clearly the ones who know what is/isn't racist/sexist/transphobic/whatever and that is /everything/ apparently. Or, hell, like what you've dealt with in having labels attached under assumption based on your gender. In fact it's people who do that that I see as SJWs because they're not really... focused on people and making real positive change in the world, just about fighting anyone they can on the internet. It's just textbook dumbassery. xD

It's all good, I'm just like so over it at this point haha.

Ah I see. Yeah I've had to call people out for speaking out of turn on issues plenty. Sure there are some things people think aren't a problem that are (like some jokes and some combinations of words) but often people are going too far to be sure.
I also think people should learn personal morality. You can choose to unfollow people because they repeatedly do something you consider wrong but if it isn't endangering anyone or illegal don't bother with starting shit. I don't like this weird culture we have now on the internetz (that's honestly on more than just the "SJW" side of things sadly) where we're all obligated to correct people on everything we consider "a mistake" even if its relatively minor and unimportant lest the world explode if we don't.
(ono); I'm not really all that surprised Furry Network has made talking about religion and politics against the rules from the get go. People have problem they can't bring those up without making it into a war zone.

Wait...so whiney morons are the reason FN banned cub porn? Thats stupid, if they did it on a moral ground i would understand, money sure, but SJW's? The fucking hell. Welp they lost their 1 edge to FA now.

    • Link

This has nothing to do with the banning of cub porn on FN in the least bit??? However, I agree with their decision to ban it. Not wanting to see minors in sexual situations is nothing to do with being an SJW whatsoever. Some people who argued against it are parents, victims of molestation (or family/friends of such), have young siblings they care for, etc. There's been issues in my local fur community before with cub porn enthusiasts who attempted to show actual children their cub porn in an attempt to show them it's "okay" because the cute animals are doing it. :\ It's absolutely normal behavior to not want to see, support, or be affiliated with that kind of thing, and anyone who does should seek treatment immediately because it's a legitimate condition that needs attention. I'm entirely okay with general cub artwork, but the instant it turns sexual it makes me want to retch.

Almost twenty years ago when I plopped my butt online for the first time people were unkind to other people's opinions.
I'm not saying there isn't a legitimate concern. While I do feel that social justice in and of itself is sort of important for humanity to continue to a more positive future I have found that there are definitely groups of people out there online who have done very little in the way of research and are largely just parroting something they heard from someone else in the same way hate groups do. Just echo-boxing the popular opinion of their peers and taking it to the logical extreme.

I think it'd be pretty extreme to say there's any one community floating through Weasyl however.
I mean there was a wave of anti-non-furries once lol. And that was probably an entirely different crowd.

Hopefully you don't run into anyone else being hateful. I know that those kinds of interactions can make anyone feel unwelcome and it's totally disheartening when it seems to be a pack of people looking for a fight. And then it seems like everyone.
I do agree with blocking people who just want to ruin your day, but make sure if someone is well and truly harassing you to report them too.
