I was commissioned to sew this in 2014. I actually didn’t realize how popular Mio & Mao are. It got so much attention on etsy, that I decided to make it a long-term part of my line. I created my own pattern by adapting the body from my MLP plush pattern and shortening the legs; additionally, I changed the kind of head. The head actually came from a doll pattern that hasn’t been much good for anything else. I still have a problem with these being quite top-heavy. I haven’t figured out what to change in the pattern to make them not faceplant so much. I’ve thought about adding a weight in the back, but I’ve never investigated how much it would cost to have a reliable source of weights (like fishing line weights maybe?)

I got a Pokemon plush at Chicago ComiCon like that--it's one of those chibis where the head is huge. I pretty much have to prop the forelegs up on something to get it from tipping forwards! XD
But these are uber-cute! :)
