Sounds like a job for air and artillery support... Or at least having HMGs/Autocannons at the ready, and using AP rounds in their rifles/rifle-caliber MGs.

Explosive rounds in general are a problem for them. Gotta remember, with Large critters, you go Up a classification, 7.62x54r is an intermediate round for them, .50 Beowulf is an SMG caliber, and a battle rifle starts in the same caliber, but more BMG than SMG.
So now I'm imagining a bird hauling around an express rifle just in case.

Meanwhile, the average Iro Dragon rifle is something like a Lhati bullpup with a pan mag. 7.62 will hurt them, but bear in mind, you just hit a bipedal water buffalo armed with a 20mm rifle with a Deer Round.
What sort of munitions would they want in that sort of circumstance?
